honestly how do people prefer cats if the cats that even cat people like best are the best because they are more similar to dogs?

it makes no sense if you want a dog-gy cat just get a small dog...

tldr; dogs>cats

Holy fuck I had to read this like 8 times to make sense it

Growing up with cats, I can say I will never have a cat, or at least one that lives inside. The shitbox kills it for me.

We have two indoor cas and a large dog.

I would rather clean the litter boxes than pick up dog poo. And even litter isn't so bad if you do it daily.

picking up poop is not very fun, but neither is scooping the box lol. I guess its a personal preference. Thats why I praise my dogs for taking shits on walks, cause Im a bad person and dont pick itup.

Because when you have a Bengal cat, it's awesome

+1 e-credit for you! I had several bengals growing up...seriously the most amazing breed of cats i've ever encountered. Love the Snow bengals, do you know what generation it is?

Had a debate with a dog person this past weekend... Came up with pros and cons of each.

Dog Pros:

More trainable

Play fetch

Explore the outdoors (with owner)

Generally more playful/excitable

Cat Pros:

Independent aside from food/water

Generally calm

Recognize emotion in humans

Outdoor cats will return home

Shit and piss in a concentrated area that needs to be cleaned occasionally

Dog Cons:

Barking

Need for accompanied walks/exercise

Picking up of shit

Need to be let out for piss/shit

Eat more (big dogs)

Cat cons:

At slight risk of being mauled by claws if you pet the wrong spot

Not always playful

Don't really give a fuck about what you want them to do

In conclusion:

Cats= Independent, minimal work after maturing

Dogs = Dependent, lots of work all the time

I grew up with an outdoor cat, i've just always enjoyed the idea of having an animal that free roams but will chill with you when it wants. I think dogs are cool and can form a really strong bond with a human, again, more dependent on human care. Both are badass in their own ways.

The majority of car owners are slobs with nasty houses . I've seen maybe a few in my life that have cats and have a clean house . Cats are disgusting.

Sifting litter boxes eliminate the need to scoop.

And pick up after your dog. You give the rest of us a bad name.

Bengals and maine coons are awesome cat breeds! Most like water, will play fetch, very vocal and loyal and will follow you around just like a dog. Not to mention a maine coon can hit 25lbs, 30lbs for a pure bred with good lineage.

All animals have different personalities. Some personalities fit better with certain people than others. Some people are cat people, some are dog people. I love cats and dogs and will never choose one over the other.

Those bengal cat pictures are adorable.

Still cant get around the fact that their is poop out in the open inside the house. I know they try to bury it, but that just results in litter sprayed all around the box.

I know, I will try to do better just for you.

I dunno man just seems to be the case , every time I go to a persons house with a cat , it's filthy . Very RARELY is a cat persons house a clean one from my experience, I'm a super clean person tho so I hold high standards .

And I honestly hate most small dogs

Yeah, cats are way, way better than small dogs. It's incomprehensible to me how anyone can even like tiny dogs, let alone own one. If you have a dog that weighs less than ten pounds, just get a fucking cat. Or a hamster. Or a ferret. All three are better options than a tiny dog.

Or a raccoon!

We have both. Its fun. One of our cats its totally fearless and will wrestle around with my 90 lb Bouvier, its the most hilarious thing ever. But yeah, the cat boxes are terrible. Its actually not that bad if you stay on top of it, but once its blown up and you have 20 lbs of cat shit to scoop up, fuck that. We used to let them roam free but a coyote got one, I felt terrible, now the cats are indoor. Which is too bad because one time I was watching my cat stalk a bird and he bolted after it across the entire yard, leaped like 6 feet in the air at full speed and snagged that bird out of the sky with one arm. Fuckin epic.

I'll have to dig up her papers, but her parents are fancy Euro show cats. So by that definition she can't be too far removed from the wild (5th generation I think?). And it kind of shows- while she is super tame and lovable, she is smarter than my dog. She can open doors & drawers, plays fetch, and makes her own coffee in the morning. But one thing I don't like and I'm hoping gets better as she gets older (she's only 1.5 yr old) is that she is SUPER loud. But at least its a tiny roar and not a normal meow.

you missed the biggest con for dogs and the biggest pro for cats.

you will come to love your dog so much that your heart will be shattered when it inevitably dies before you.

you won't be as emotionally attached to a cat because instead of doing sick bonding experiences with it, it sits there pondering ways it can murder you

so an awesome cat breed is a cat that acts like a dog?

I had a problem with a Rat.

Decided to get a Cat,

took care of the issue with the Rat.

No Dog would have solved an issue like that.

Now im stuck with a Cat

How about that

Cats are a naturally free animal, I respected the shit out of my cat. Dogs follow, and respect you as their owner. In my experience i would consider the bond i had with my cat to be an intellectual bond. Non verbal communication with cats is interesting, mine was very independent and didn't take shit. I looked at my cat as almost an other brother and i was extremely upset when he died.

I will repeat... Dogs and cats are cool for different reasons, simple.
