Generator keeps dying...

I have a Champion 42433 generator to power 2 500 Watt halogen lights for urban skiing at night. It claims it can power 1500 Watts and 'run' 1200 Watts. This should be more than enough power, but the generator will die after 4 or so minutes. Then soon after in 2 minutes. and then shorter time and shorter and so on.

I really have no experience with this field so i need a little help. The air filter is very clean, along with gas filter. Oil is fine.. It just shuts off very quickly, leaning me to the 'electrical' side of the issue.

+K for help!

Where I come from, you can write both 2 500 and 2500. he should have written 2x500 watts. And for the generator part.. I don't know, I have no clue.

I did too. THen I misread OP and thought he was trying to power a 2500 watt light and just.... i don;t know. maybe it's time to sleep.

Buy 200 lumin head lamps, save money on gas, don't make as much noise, get the cops called less, ski more. Profit.
