Japanese import taxes are insanely high, so all of the European/US ski brand's equipment is very expensive in Japan, and this leads to a few Japanese brands doing their own thing (another boot brand is Rexxam). Japan is the single biggest race boot market in the world- individually bigger than Austria, bigger than Switzerland, bigger than Italy. So all of the brands focus on race boots first and foremost (which is what these boots are based on). The molds haven't been updated in 10+ years, so they just change the color, add a weird power strap, and call it freestyle. And because their market is very focused to Japan, you rarely ever see them anywhere outside Japan.
