I just dont get why people are opposed to it. How does it hurt you if two gay guys get married? It honestly isnt going to affect you in anyway so why not let them get married and be happy if thats what they want. And dont start saying it will ruin the sanctity of marriage. Divorce rates are at 50% now, britney spears can get married for less than a day, and an 80 year old can marry an 18 year old.....but god forbid two gay people that love eachother get married and give marriage a shot where us hetros have failed misearbly.

I just dont see why anyone could be against it, I mean what reason do you have for denying two people the same rights you have? Honestly Id just like an answer...its interesting.

^in fact, civil marriage is just a contract (just like buying a house). the problem with gay marriage is that then, the next step will be parenthood. moreover, you got to put rules and limits in a society: it's not allowed to kill, you have speed limit, ... and no gay marriage! you have to stop somewhere, no?

Killing people and speeding is a little bit different than two people who love eachother getting married. I dont know what to say about parenthood, I havent thought enough about that yet. But we are talking about gay marraige now, not parenthood. And my main question is how are two people getting married who are gay affecting your life???? I just want an answer to that.

It doesn't affect my life...but the point made by punk_rider above is a valid one: you have to consider the reprecussions of doing something like this. If you grant gays the right to get married, it's just going to lead to more and more requests, including parenthood. The US has been without gay marriage rights from it's inception, so why change now.

I'm not living in the past...i actually am all for changes to the Constitution, if is necessary. To say I'm stuck in the 1800s is ridiculous. I know society has changed and the Constitution has changed with it. I just don't think it's necessary to rewrite it to give gay people special priviledges.

My point is...granting marriage rights will lead to further requests. I know you keep saying that you are only discussing marriage, but you can't just put something into use and not consider all possible events to follow.

Why is it soooo important to grant gays marriage anyway. They can still be together and live together. Many employers even grant partner insurance coverage now. You say why not do it if it doesn't affect our lives. I say, why do it in the first place.

im with dspinx on this one. hetero marriage receives marital benefits when gays dont because theyre not allowed to share that kind of bond with one another. they are being treated inequally due only to their sexual preferance.... its not about giving them more rights, only about giving them the chance to have equal rights. people used to have the same mentality about women voting.
