That's right, of all the known oil in the world, if it is all used up at the current rate, and the demand doesnt go up (which is highly unlikely) we have approx. 20 years left of oil. Just to let you all know, maybe you will use it more conservatively, if not to protect the environment, then to lessen the demand and waste of it.

oil is not lacking, its the people who need to make burn, and if we can drill in alaska, we would be loaded with oil. If the people woudl work harder to pruduce more oil, there would not be all these sky rocketing gas power. There are cars in the process for nitrogen and all that, but fuel right now is not going extinct.

 
It's possible, and if it were to come to pass, I would welcome it. It gives much more incentive for inventors and engineers to create better alternatives for energy.

Don't believe everything you're told. We were told decades ago that by the 90's the air quality would be so horrible that we couldn't walk outside without gas masks.

There are so many untapped resources that we have yet do discover the full potential of.

^^^^ dude with the seth icon, i did a deep research paper into the drilling in alaska. the biggest estimate made by the government was enough oil to last just the US for 6 months. of course bush doesnt like that known, but it is the truth.

yes oil is infinite, so is water. we can exploit whatever we have to at whatever rate we want without ever considering the consequences. i mean why not? theres always been enough in the past, why wouldnt there be forever? lets continue BURNING... just throwing away and burning a major resource... i mean plastics arent that great anyway are they? not particularly useful... they arent used in anything, especially not food processing equipment... there wont ever be mass starvation. i mean whats the difference between 6 billion people and 8 billion, its all the same.

no im not selfish, i jsut think that we have the oil to use, and so we should use it? its everyone who needs it. Until they actually do find some kind of other resource that is kick ass, then use gas, and keep using it. But when they do have cars on the market that run with different types of liguids, gases etc, then put those up, but still keep some gas around..

hydrogen will take over eventually anyways. In europe, many hydrogen stations are already popping up all over, and you can buy consumer cars with hydrogen engines.

hydrogen IS infinite, dirt cheap, and the only waste product produced is water.

many hydrogen cars are 200+ hp

You just pulled that out of your ass. I've seen statistics that account for the exponential increase in oil consumption that occurs naturally with population and industrial growth that predict a muuuuch greater supply of oil than 20 years worth. As for Alaska, the 6 month statistic is a bogus one put out by PETA or some equally unreputable, hippy organization. There are many more than 6 months worth of oil there, not to mention countless other mineable materials that we could extract if we had as a country had no souls, but we do, so we won't.

I've heard the same figure for anwr, it is only enough to fuel the entire u.s for about 6 months - a year. The governement should pass a law that all cars have to get like 25 miles per gallon

what scares me more is the fact that human population is starting to peak. it is estimated that the world can sustain up to 12 billion people, maybe 20 bil if we manage our resources right. but if you consider the way our population is currently growing, scientists are estimating that we're going to peak in 60-80 years (2 generations). anybody who has taken elementary biology knows what happens when popultations near carrying capacity - you get one of 3 things.

1) big ass war involving nukes

2) famine involving mass starvation

3) disease epidemic

4) any combination of the above 3.

do the world a favor, dont have more than 2 kids. they smell and take up your money anyways.

threre are already alternative ways for energy. ppl just sont use them much yet. an example is windmills for energy. u can get alot of power from them but there arent many because ppl think they get in teh way of scenery and stuff. im not worried

ok hydrogen powered cars is not the answer, because it takes electricity to derive hydrogen from water, and the electricity is coming from coal burning power plants most likely. so basically all your doing is adding more steps to the process. and for alternative power sources and such, i heard somewhere that you would have to like cover texas with windmills to power like half of the US. and solar power just doesnt quite cut it. dams are ok, but there so damned expensive (no pun intended! hahaha lol!!!:) and then theres nuclear power, but people are to scared, and in the us there wont be any in 30 years

Last i heard there was enough oil in the world to last another 50 years....mass starvation wont happen here in the U.S., we aren't overpopulated and are too developed, it is more likely going to happen in India with a billion people an isn't developed at all
