Gaper Love

Something really neat has happened to me in the past few weeks and I wanted to make a thread and share it with you all. Like the majority of you, I have an undying love for skiing and let it pour out of every "metaphorical" orifice of my life. A resulting factor of this, is that all the people who surround me have to deal with my shit every day and they in turn are even subliminally influenced by it. I can say with great pleasure now that many of my former ultra weekend warrior gaper friends are also beginning to embrace skiing, even if it is only in the fledgling stages. This can really be seen in one of my good friends that for the purpose of this thread we'll call "Charlie." He was showing some interest in expanding his skiing horizon, so I took him to a premier of Eye Trip. He was so enthralled by the movie, that he went home an immediately bought it on iTunes. I have since then lent him EDIAS, Refresh, So Far So Hood, Balance, Turbo, Shanghai Six, and Wanderland. This has gotten him so stoked for skiing and he even went out and bought himself a pair of Line Chronics. I am just so excited that I am able to share something that I love, and help other people experience it too. I hope everyone else on this site is able to go through something like this with one of their buddies, or family members because it is a really awesome feeling to share something you love with people you like to surround yourself with. Sorry for the rant but I felt like sharing so if you don't like it lick my nuts and suck my dick.

Nice man I wish some of the kids at my School would stop giving me shit about my tall hoodie and go skiing and get their lazy asses off facebook and realize why I love skiing so much and talk about it so much

I even try to tell the kids he man you wanna watch eye trip with me on the bus or something like that of course I do have my really good skiing friends that will watch eye trip or whatever with me but I just don't have those people with me 24/7 you know

Haha, yeah, I know exactly what you mean, it's an awesome feeling. What makes it better for me is one kid I taught and is still a beginner thinks he can punch front and seven off of 25 footers now. Oh how I look forward to the opening day...

good shit, i bore most people talking about skiing

i did do more or less the same thing with one of my buddies. we were younger, so i didnt have that much direct influence, but he went from snowboarding about 10 days a year to now going to a boarding school in steamboat for skiing and racing skicross, which i introduced him to as well.

now he whoops my ass on the mountain in skicross and out

Congratulations you have just introduced your friend to a new drug skiing. I got a few of my friends addicted also, they just can't stop.

Maybe you should have left Balance in your personal library..but anyway its always awesome to get non-skiing friends interested in skiing

They don't give you shit because you ski. They give you shit because you somehow think that wearing a retard big hoodie identifies you as a skier somehow. The problem is. In their eyes you just look like some turd in an oversized coat.

I did the same thing as well, but instead of sending him strait to the park I'm showing him the basic of skiing and how to ski REAL SKI. haha No but he's a bit of reckless person so it won't help if I send him to the park because he will simply go on every rail and kill himself. haha! Oh and he was one hell of snowboard gaper.

I'm having a hard time with him, he simply wants to do some rails but doesn't even have the technique. He simply goes for it and almost knocks himself out every time. But I guess he learns from it.

Always good to hear about people getting turned onto and hooked on skiing. Brings joy to me that people are willing to enjoy the thrills and happiness skiing brings to all of us.

I think he's refering to the UB showing so i was also in a room where this kids miraculous epiphany happened!!!

NICE!

yeah i thought somethin like that was happening with my friend, i gave him an old pair of twin tips.

4 years later HE'S STILL AN ANNOYING GAPER :O

ah i feel you there bro, i've influenced my gf into skiing, she know a ton about it, i'm even amazed sometimes of her knowledge :)shes already gotten a pair of boots and shes been shredding my old rossis, now shes looking into a pair of her own :)
and a friend of mine is so stoked on skiing after i borrowed him my fat skis on a pow day, he's recently purchased jjs himself :)
and i'm also a ski-instructor with youthcamps, every week i'm there i teach a group of around 10 kids for a whole day, i'm proud to say that at the end of each week i at least have 1 of them land a 360 and half of them land 180s on little rollers :) last year i even had 2 of them stomp a frontflip into the pow on crappy rental skis :) (and fyi it's not a freestyle camp, kids who subscribe just go for a regular skiing holiday, but i always get em super stoked for park and pow :)

^^last year, 1 of the kids had only 1 week of skiing experience and he was stomping 3s and did 2 fronts into the pow :) i was so stoked !i even feel that teaching kids to be stoked for skiing is much more rewarding then skiing park on your own ...

i know how you feel. even my friends that do ski dont no anything about it. i was watching a level 1 trailer on my ipod todau and my freind (who has afterbangs and skis carinthia all the time) asks what video is that and i say its the eye trip trailer. he says oh whats eye trip? i say its the new level1 vid. then i precede to tell him about ahmets dope part and how wallischs was insane. then he asked me who tom wallisch was and i facepalmed.
