Gap between bindings and skis

Hi guys,

i hope there are at least few ski/binding mounting technicians here.

I've received my skis (ON3P Jeronimo) with mounted bindings - 4FRNT Deadbolt 13.

But i've notices a gap (3 mm or more) between front part of binding and a ski - place check it:

I've never experienced such thing before, never seen such gap.

Maybe it's related to Deadbolt's mounting specific?

Please advice and thanks!

I had this happen to an extent when I mounted some bindings on my afterbangs last year. Did you have any epoxy from a previous mount on them?

I've actually wrote to the store i bought the skis and the answer was:

"it’s actually quite normal for the deadbolts and ESPs to come with that small gap in the front of the binding due to the mounting bolt on the bottom. This does not influence the quality or performance of the bindings."

But for me it's REALLY strange, since i'm skiing for quite some time now (5+ years) and never experienced similar mounting before.

Not sure, maybe it's really "deadbolts" specific thing, since bindings seems are rental ones (where you can adjust them quite easy), but they are brand new and the bottom part of the bindings has no gap...

Before these bindings, there were other ones mounted (elan). But these ones are mounted to different place (more to the center)

They are fine. Look at the binding its flat to the ski it's just the front part of the binding which rises slightly to stop as much of a dead spot on the ski. If your unsure take them back to who mounted them but they look fine to me.

I've made few more photos, since it's kind of hard to show this gap:

Gap begins as a small, just where my boot toe would be and becomes bigger to the front of binding.

I ordered skis from Canada while i'm in US. Since i will leave US in 2 weeks and go to Europe, there is no change to buy Jeronimo's any more :D

Oh yeah I see it no we the tech just has not double checked his work. The screws can be removed any top sheet cut flat which may have come up and the screws put back in. Any shop can do it for you.

I had kind of the same thing, my gap wasn't as big, but i didn't feel much difference... just make sure the binding is on tight and you should be good to go.

your tech is a grade A noob. hahahah although it is true that that binding can have a bit of lift (usually in the very back behind the heel the plastic will stick up a bit) but it's pretty obvious he didn't hand tighten as much as he should've.

Do what Tom said and rescrew them in. You may want to have another tech do it so you can get some new wood glue in there as well. If they just won't go flat then try taking a razor blade and leveling out the bit of top sheet sticking up (that happens naturally when a screw is threaded into a hole) then hand tighten to all hell haha.

it should be fine. but honestly it is more of a lazy mounting problem. i would take it to a shop though because normally in this type of situation all that needs to happen is a ski tech needs to tighten up the screws. we catch the mounters at my shop making this mistake sometimes when its gos to the calibration bench and all i takes is a quick tighten
