I think there was a thread like this a little while ago but i cant find it.My brothers birthday is coming up and he wants a new "gaming" computer, I want to buy him one but im not very good with this and am hoping the NS community an help me out. also my price range is about 0-600$

What kind of games? Do you have a case/anything already?

600 is somewhat low if he wants to play high level games seeing as some cards are $500 (the newest Nvidia and such)

be a good bro and build one for him..have someone message you some parts and build it with him or some shit..

If you want to get way more bang for your buck, you can mail the PC part to me, I'll build it, and then mail it back to you for like $10. I like doing it plus I'd be helping you out.

he has an old mac from like 2008, he says he wants something like a dell "xps 1570"? but im pretty sure he doesnt know to much about it.

That's more money than I've spent on both my brothers for all their birthdays and Christmas's combined.

Its really hard to just tell you something, Could you ask what game's he plays? It would be really helpful to know.

This.

Does he want a laptop? Or a Desktop?

Does he have a monitor and keyboard he likes? Mouse too? Gaming gets expensive quickly if you chose it to be that way.

it really depends a lot what you have and what you need, if you dont have keyboard, speakers, display and such, it may be easier to go the laptop route, there is no xps 1570, but he probhably means the newest xps15" laptop, suggesting he wants a laptop.

if he wants to play some more serious titles, id look into the lenovo y-series, they have a great bang for the buck with dual graphics cards. i have the y500, and i can play nearly anything on close to max settings.

just find someone you know that knows a bit about computers and make him buy you the parts. Putting the stuff together after really isnt that hard. Did the same thing with my cousin a week ago and it took like half an hour to put it all together ("build" it). Also, there is a detailed explanation coming with the parts (like where to put stuff and so on), so its really more or less foolproof.

Plus, you will save some money (or get a better pc for less money) if you buy the parts and put them together by youreself!

My PC specs that I built this spring, works great and plays all the newest games satisfactorily. Total cost was 636 euros = 850 dollars, but I think you can get the parts alot cheaper in the states.
