Gaaahhhh fuck you full tilt buckles

yes i know this is kind of a pointless thread but ive fuckin had it with these full tilt buckles. Seems like every 2 weeks another one breaks, haha ill probly end up spending more on replacement buckles than i did on the boots in the long run. my boots came with the metal buckles which are suppose to be stronger than the plastic ones, but i replaced a couple of them with the plastic ones and those have been holding out better than the metals. i dont think im really all that hard on them, but i do like to get my boots cranked down pretty tight. is there any random trick to making them last longer?
 
I used mine 50 days this season and have not had one single problem. I even walk around with them flapping around and never broke one. you must be making sexy time with them.
 
only the middle one on my right boot has broken, 3 times. it gets pretty annoying when i had no idea where to buy them and i couldnt get buckles off their website and they never replied to my email .
 
I had the same problem. My solution --> buy old raichle flexons on craiglist for cheap (company that first made full tilt mold). Then take off the buckles from them and replace broken full tilt buckles. For the cost of 20$ I have two pairs of boots to use for replacement parts.
 
yea here in whistler there like $30-35 each and i normally have to wait like 10 days for them to get ordered in...definitely caused way too much down time. i remeber last season i took like an hour long hike up to the top of a line, only to break my middle buckle whne i was buckling up at the top...skiing with only 2 buckles isnt exactly the most confidence inspiring thing to do haha.
 
LOL I remember like it was yesterday, first day out this past season in my new seths and within 5 runs, my bottom buckle rivet exploded and left my cable dangling for no reason. My mind was blown. What I do now: try to keep several backup buckles. When I sent FT an email they ended up not only sending me 2 more of the same buckle but a t-shirt as well, and this is when FT didn't just usually give out T-shirts. I never had a cable problem. It always just seems to be the rivet that holds the buckle on, which is obviously circular just explodes
 
The "trick" to making them last longer is to move them all the way forward when putting the boots on then tighten all the buckles one at a time. So, move all the buckles to the loosest position, hook the cables, and latch the buckle, then pick a buckle to tighten first (I usually start with the middle buckle), tighten it a bit, then move on to the others, then go around again as you tighten them each up to the proper tightness.

The reason people break their buckles so much is because they don't move them, they just keep them in one position and lock them down every time which puts a lot of pressure on them.
 
I never do that, plus my rivet on my buckle broke on the first day out in them... but honestly if you don't know enough to loosen the buckles and then adjust properly once in the boot you probably shouldn't have expensive boots... just sayin
 
yea well the tracks get fucked long before the buckles break off, most of my buckles that are on there still work but can hardly move
 
Cranking them down without moving them puts pressure on the tracks too. However, the buckles do sometimes bind, just a quick wiggle usually loosens them up a bit (but I'm guessing that's not the issue you have). Like I said, if you treat them well, they'll last a long time. Every buckle on my 09 booters worked until I sold them and as far as I know they still work, and I have a friend with 09 Hot Doggers that still have all the buckles working till this day.
 
ahahah amde me laugh..... well iv never ahd problems with mine =? maby loosen them up a little so when u land your shin isnt slamming in to the tong super hard and maby forcing the buckles out....only thing i can think of that might help
 
i have a pair of the OG booters with 140 days on them and no broken buckles, however, the soles are so worn that i'm either going to have to buy a new pair or figure out some way to fix them
