so most newschoolers members are in the age range of 15-24 years old, with some early and prominent members in their late 20s even 30s im sure.

so in 10 years this group will be 25-34 (math).

question: do you think the same group will be present and thus the general maturity of the website will increase / benefit? or do you think when you get to be around 25 you are done with internet message boards and the general age will continue to be in that tweenager range, thus keeping the goofiness / often naiive theme of this website.

we're in that first aging internet generation so there isnt much to go on in guessing. But i think (despite a few annoying kids who like to spam bullshit), there has been a noticable increase in maturity.

compare today's threads to threads from 3 years ago, or for example the 2010 hype over the jiberish ignant vest which is obviously one of the ugliest pieces of crap ever designed, yet attracted so much attention just because it was 'cool'. seems like the objective value of things is receiving a much more accurate representation - possibly because of us maturing.

anyways, i dont like making dorky threads like this, but im curious

no. as I turn 25 next month I have been a member for 9ish years. And honestly, this site has done nothing but get worse and worse. Its all about tall tees and jiberish. I think people will lose interest around 25

I do agree that a year ago the trend was all about tall tees and jiberish, but I'm pretty sure the trend's changing, you can kinda tell by the price jiberish is going for these days.

this, i've also been a member for 9 years and it has gotten more absurd as time goes on. much more entertaining, and there have been a lot of positives, but the teen-ish average age and non-increasing maturity level has been somewhat constant. but it's fun, which is why i'm still here.

although i frequently wonder why I don't just go out in a blaze or ban-worthy glory and blow apart a thread on days like today. and yet, here i am still.

ive been over 25 for awhile now and still log on to NS almost everyday.

there is lots of golden material to be had on this site, you just have to sift through alot more shit to find it.

Have you just been lurking for a long time or..? Member since Oct 2013

I'm hoping to still be around in 10 years. I doubt I'll have another 30,000 posts but I'll be active :)

Fuck age why do people care so much, people should be judged on maturity and personality.

inb4 im 14

the amount of people who are joining has increased and based on my observation they're all young people, 14 to 18. so if it keeps increasing like this there will be either a shift of older nsers leaving nsg and young people staying or older people will stay and the younger people will be outnumbered.

Been on here for 10 or 11 years now. It has gotten so much more filled with shitty comments, trolls, assholes and general douchebaggary, buuuuut that is part of what keeps me coming back! I love to laugh, especially at the youngins. We were all there at one point or another to some extent, hopefully I didnt look like as much of an ass. With the huge boom in popularity, the amount of skiing content has exploded WHICH IS FUCKING AWESOME!

Im 26, I feel like Im in between NS and TGR. Skiing wise, Im all about TGR. Change for a nickle? The skiing talk and TRs and the gear and avy talk is miles above what is here. A life time of experience cannot be replaced. Not to mention I almost never ski park anymore. Unfortunatley, Im not asking for advice on buying a house, or what options I need on my new Audi, or how to pad my 401K for max returns.

NS has a sweet spot for me with the movies, articles, interviews, pics, and NSG, fuck, I love that gem of a forum! Nobody beats the coverage that you get here! If you can put up with/screen out the shitty posts/posters, its a great place. I do wish we had a padded room like TGR does. Proof to the mods/members put in charge to check IDs. The daboucherty would be awesome.

I bet Ill be posting/checking in here randomly in ten more years! Same with TGR, the post counts will flip tho. Been on both forums for the same time, and have 75ish posts on TGR.

if that day ever comes the heavens will rain dildos and tit pics until every member of NS is soaked with joy. i won't stop until everybody who witnesses the downward spiral has gone full potato including myself. or maybe i already have....is this real life? or is this just fantasy?

I just think younger kids cant really help being annoying, i sure was 2 years ago, people fucking hated me. I didnt know why, they just did.

ya I'm 21 and I'm almost done here. bout time to switch to TGR

Newer, younger members will always join and the whole freeski community has always been a little rough around the edges and blunt. I'm not worried about being entertained in the future, I'll keep coming back forsure.

NS 4 lyfe

But really, I'm 21, why not? There's a ton of content, the amount of it will go up as time goes on. The immaturity is funny most of the time. Like that thread about the fat person, which turned into a dog gif thread. I found that entertaining. I've never seen some of those dog gifs. There might also be skiing content, but dog gifs are where it's at.

Plus I know about -10 people that ski, so, this is it.

line up 30 windows / new threads so you can click them all really fast. before you get cut off.

note: NS member Spinoza does not condone or encourage any banworthy behavior at this time or at any future time

I think if you look back at my posts 2-3 years ago and my posts now you will clearly see a difference, I was a little shit back then.

Still am, just not as much :)

sometimes i get so fed up and just need to leave, i wasnt on at all for all of october and it wasnt a big deal. reddit is a way better replacement if you actually want to learn things / see cool stuff (not re skiing though). but something about ns and knowing members makes it enjoyable.

Inb4 MaryO. But as a 17 year old I can't imagine why I would leave this site. It's an active community and for all the hate that goes on, a generally kind one.
