I find those pictures so interesting and how they show German soldiers on an individual basis. Their humor and friendship with one another is so cool to see. We view the Nazis, as a whole, as an evil force bent on world domination but as individuals they were little different from ourselves.

its far more fucked up to see nazi soldiers on an individual basis. this was pretty much an entire nation of ordinary people like you and me, that did ordinary things and had a sense of humor like anyone else. yet, they facilitated the systematic massacre of millions and millions of innocent people who were just as like you and me.
