Fulltilt Hot dogger -> Salomon Kaos

So i've been skiing on my hot doggers for like 2,5 seasons now and it's time to buy a new pair of boots. My feet have grown some width, so after like 5 hours of skiing it starts to hurt, but not in a way that it would affect my skiing and I don't even usually ski that long.

I've tried the Salomon kaos boots on a couple of times and I kind of like how they feel, not too sure about them since I love the comfy feel of my fulltilts. New fulltilts with the outershell molded would cost about 260$ more than the Kaos boots, so I'm thinking of buying them.

Help me out guys. How are the kaos boots compared to fulltilts and is it really worth it to pay 260$ more to get a pair of TOM WALLISCH pro models. I've loved my hot doggers except that they smell really really bad and my feet sweat in them like crazy.
 
I love my kaos's, except my right boot presses on the top of my foot in a strange way. To be honest full tilt technology makes more sense to me, but I doubt you would be dissapointed with the kaos boot.
 
I love my kaos's once i get them on my foot.
The only problem about them for me is that they are so damn hard to get on
Once i get them on they are great though
 
Just get the shell punched.

All liners will start to smell no matter what. In my hot doggers, I used a thin wool sock and my feet still started to sweat. A guy at my shop who has full tilts as well said to use a nylon (I know it's kinda gay)(Pantie hose). I used them for the first time on the weekend, my feet never got cold, always warm, and they never sweat.
 
Yes I do know something about boots.

I would get the fulltilt booters but didn't really like the feel of them, due to having a different outershell than original FT's and I'd have to buy a stiffer tongue for them. in addition they cost almost as much as getting a new pair of hot doggers and getting the outershell for them molded for my feet.

I'd get my current boots molded again if they weren't so worn out. That is the main reason for buying new boots.

Going to see a bootfitter and getting boots fitted to my feet would be the BEST and by far the smartest thing to do, but my budget is really low and I have to buy a new pair of skis soon so I'd like to save some money. There is only one bootfitter near where I live, that I know of and they charge super much for boots, almost 100$ more than the local shop I'd buy from.
 
depends how wide and what the shape of your foot is. My feet are too wide to fit into booters, so i use spk's. They are a really good boot
 
I have never skiied in full tilts but i have felt them and honestly they feel fairly heavy. Neither have I skiied in the kaos's. I ski in kreations and they have all the same technology as the kaos, but for a smaller lighter rider. I have never gotten shin bang, toe bang, and whenever I case a jump or take a hard landing off cliffs they are completely forgiving. Salomon certainly got their boot line right this year. As a bonus they are, as you said, 260$ dollars cheaper. Thats money you can use on a hot ass hooker.. Or other skiing stuff, whatever your preference..
 
It's because it fits your feet.. duuuh.

Get a boot that fits your foot. Kaos/Pro anti-toebang are for people that likes boots that doesn't fit their foot. A boot that fits your foot absorbs shocks much better than all fancy shockabsorbers, those are just for marketing anyway.
 
having experience as a boot fitter, don't buy full-tilts. Your buying a boot with no technology change in 20 years, I have 6 come in a day to have broken buckles fixed and I can't tell you how many we've had come back in only 20 days of skiing that are totally shot because the heal and toes are worn already.
I consider them a happy meal toy to be honest.
 
I agree the Kaos' are sweet but getting them on is a total bitch. But once your riding the performance is sweet.
 
Obviously the full tilts are going to be heavy if you're in a junior boot.

Op, get your shell punched at your bootfitter or if you really want go buy some new boots. Buy what fits your foot. If you try on new hot doggers and there's one pressure point, get those and shell punch em. If your foot has become that much wider, get the spk's.
 
My Hot doggers have served me well up until now, so can't say that the technology on them isn't working. I understand why they are using older technology and thats because it works. I'm not saying that new technology in boots wouldn't be good.

I've pretty much worn out my Hot doggers now. I'm on my second pair of changeable heel rubbers, but my toe pieces are getting so worn out that I'm getting some movement in my bindings. The lowest buckle snapped a few weeks ago so I started looking for new boots. I've pretty much decided that I'm going to wait a few weeks to see if I can find a pair of hot doggers (going to get the outershell punched a bit) for a reasonable price and if not then going for a pair of kaos boots.
