Full Tilts...

I hate to make this thread, since this is the kind of thread i hate seeing but well...

so im lookin to buy new boots fairly soon.

im 5 10, about 150 and ski steeps/trees and bumps in the PNW at a fairly high level, with a race background.

the boots im looking at are:

tecnica agent 130

tecnica diablo race

salomon x3 rc cs

and full tilt first chair/classic/konflict.

if i was to get the full tilt id end up with a flex 10 tongue

basically the question is how do the full tilts hold up outside the park?

how do they fit? (more than just "narrow"... a 98mm last isnt that narrow)

im gonna try them on before i buy them of course.

k, +k for good responses

I taken my Konflicts all over the mountain without any problems. An average ski day for me usually consists of 5 'warm up' runs all over the mountain, then to the park for a few runs, then to the glades until lunch. Then after lunch I usually stick to the park for the rest of the day.

They are great everywhere, that's pretty much it.

Feel free to ask if you've got any specific questions.

They are not only narrow, but have a very strange pattern of fit. They are narrow around the knuckles of the toes, but I found that they also have a bit too much room in the heel, and I was actually getting some lift. Having said that, I ski without cant adjusters, which come with the FTs, so using a couple of those would probably push your heel back more, especially if you need to charge trees.

And the flex 10 tongue is stiff, but no more so than the Tecnica Diabolo, which is fucking bulletproof, but a fun ride nonetheless.

If you're making the transition from trees to park, you can slip the cant adjusters out for a more upright ride. I have very wide feet, so I expected some problems. But for a normal person, the 98mm last is okay.

cant (really cuff alignment) is the adjustment for the cuff of the boot and for bowlegged/pigeon toed people. forward lean is what your talking about im pretty sure...

I'm rocking some Agent 110s. They are fantastic, i dont feel like they are that stiff either (like skiing me stiff), so 130's should be plenty stiff for you. They are just a solid all mountain charging/hucking/going nuts boot. they aren't going to be terribly stiff and race oriented like the diablo, but they won't be very park oriented style like full tilts will be.

98 is a narrow last, i'm perfect in the 100 last with the 110's so if you have a narrow foot, 98mm should be good
