Full Tilt - Rant

Anyone else have problems with the inside shell of your FT's? When i took my liners out and put my hand in the shell it scratched my hand. I then looked at the liner and it has started to cut into the liner pretty bad. Have not even skied in them yet.

As a product designer this is bad/old molds that have been overworked or poorly constructed?

To solve this i got some stand paper and have sanded down the whole inside shell and then covered the screw/bolt holes with heavy duty tap so that it doesnt catch the liner as well.

This will prevent my boots eating through liners. I would advise anyone else with FT's like this to do the same. Dont no how K2 get away with it? Poor quility!

Rant over!

PS. Still great boots and fit really well.

Also has anyone or can someone put a picture up of the Hot dogger footboard? just interested to see what it looks like!

Thank you.

Sometimes boots (from all companies) can come out of the factory with a less-than-stellar finishing job. What you did should prevent problems, like it eating away at your liner. I've taken some of the t-nuts out that FT uses and replaced them with thinner/lower profile ones so they sit more flush in the shell.

ive never had a boot that the liner didnt chafe to shit. its when it start chafing your skin is when the problem starts

yup...looks like you solved you problem too. I always have to detune my skis or take a panser fiile to the sides to get em how i want em. it's plastic you're dealing with so you dont get them same at all time.

This is just my opinion, but if your paying upwards of $300 on a pair of boots I wouldn't expect a small bolt to be chewing away on my liner. Think about how much a plastic boot would cost to produce in china about $10 USD, it's not like K2 couldn't put in an extra couple of dollars to put some sought of quality control on their boots.

Just my two cents.

that and the boots are made in Italy. And you think K2 would give them a ton of $$$ but they don't. Anyhoo. But I hear ya.

Oh well, like I said i will just continue to sand down the whole inside shell.

The reason i am concearned is becasue im just about to go do a season, so need my liners to survive the 20 weeks of skiing that they will face.

Can someone take a picture of their footbed from their hotdoggers? Just interested to see what it is like compared to the standard footboard.

Thanks

I hate to say this, but it just sounds like you got a factory defect in your boot. My boots don't cut up my liner, and I've never seen a FT boot do so, sorry bro. But, it sounds like you've got it covered by sanding it, as annoying as that might be, it'll fix it so it doesn't rip apart your liner.

i have the hot doggers from this year...i have a bout 7 days on them so far. I just looked inside my shells tonight in close detail and didnt find too many sharp spots. I found a few spots that were hookin my liner but no major damage. I took your advice though and covered all the bolts and nicks with tape. I have seen this with other boots too as well so im not too worried. becasue its an easy fix.!! All in all i love the boots though..most comfortable and light boot i have ever worn.
