Full Tilt Descendant Durability?

Hey NS,

I am looking for a boot for this season, and I found that the Descendant series from Full Tilt fits me well. When going online to find some deals, I found some reviews saying that cables snapped or tongues broke at the rivet during normal skiing. Another one showed a picture of the shell snapped at the toe area. Has anyone else experienced these problems under average skiing conditions?

Thanks

shit..everyone who i know who shreds has broken em

From just stepping out of the boot and normal riding or from impact and other things that would break a boot?

Pretty much. The clip that holds the tongue in place is attached to the tongue differently from the other full tilts. The rivet pops out so the tongues are no longer connected to the boot. Broke mine off after 6 days on snow. FT has no problem with warranty but it's a little bit of a pain in the ass to keep asking for new tongues and wait for shipping.

If they fix that problem they would be a decent boot. Paint chips off the buckles too but thats not a big deal

Okay. Are there any aftermarket parts that would solve that problem? I really like the fit and was hoping they wouldn't break.

I am sure you could drill it and rivet it .....but i have seen two boots with 20-40 days on them crack across the toe, and 50% of people with them have seemed to have dinged the lower buckle at some point....some people even ripping them off. They are a cheap boot, just saying.

they fixed the rivet, made it stronger and also shorter. it was on a long track last year which made it easier to switch tongues. and they made the plastic thicker in the toe box to stop the blow outs

I ended up drilling a hole and putting in a bolt and flat nut to replace the rivet. Got me through the rest of the season. It sounds like they fixed the issue though.

Okay. Thanks everyone for the help. I think I'll go with them because of the fit and hope the issues were sufficiently fixed

From what I've heard the tongue and toe box problems have been fixed. have fun with them, great boot with some unfortunate flaws its first year on the shelves.
