My point is not to be an asshole. What I'm getting at is you need to prove to your parents that you are mature. You need to have a serious talk with your parents. Ask them why they are so controlling. They obviously care about you and try to find what is best for you. You need to let them know that they don't need to hold your hand all the time, and that you want to shoulder some responsibilities by your self.

Your parents have money for college you dumbfuck. I have to pay for it out of the pocket, along with cell-phone, food, etc. etc.

i know i realize i am lucky in most of my life and i am gratefull to have parents pay for my college..... i just thought i would bring up this issue cause it seems a lot of people are in the same situation as i am. i did not make this thread to bitch and moan, i just wanted to see what other people in my same situation are doing, thats all.

Most kids going into college DO NOT have money to pay for it. Why? Because they've been in school all their life... kids who are responsible and seek a better future for themselves and their families will study hard in school or whatever it is they want to do and eventually after college pursue those careers. If you're telling me that a kid is supposed to have 20k+ a year(I don't know what kind of college we're talking about here) for 4 years at the age of 18-19... then you must be rich bitch.

If your parents have that money, and are not paying from student loans and you are complaining about it... you are a rich bitch.

If they took out a student loan for you, and are paying it off (which can take years, not to mention it's a SHIT LOAD OF MONEY!!!) and you are complaining about one little competition, and this is the ONLY little thing they are asking of you right now... you are a rich little bitch.

Please take a moment and think about how much 20k-40k a year for your childs education can be... This is an investment from them to you. You can be responsible and not waste their money and still be independant at the same time. Good Luck.

because im now working 6 days a week to pay for ski stuff, and car insurence, and car lease payments

I wouldnt be so upset. If your parents are paying for your college, you should respect their descisions and be happy you got college paid for. Which is more important, college and a career for life or one ski competition?
 
fuck my parents are sooooo stupid and retarded. they blow every situation 20 times outta porpotion, make the bigggest fucking deals over shit, thats not even worth mentioning. my moms some kinda freak, im just simply doing doing some research on courses in college for a co-op assignment and she starts asking me all thiss hit about considering it a job, and im like hell no its just a school assignment, and she practically almost started crying about it because im not taking things seriously or something, whatever its wack.

im 18 my dad hasnt given me any allowence, driven me anywhere or helped me get a job or anything since i've been 14-15 I started fixing computers after school at neighbours houses which eventually landed me a job at a Brokerage as IT Manager during the summer.

I bought all my own ski stuff, my own lift tickets, and anything I needed. last July I moved to Los Angeles after turning 18 and since ive been here I havnt gotten a single penny from my dad.
