today i was just hittin a table and i did a simple mute and i was trying to tweak it out nice and my ski popped off in my hand midair. a beautiful crash followed including my knee getting banged hard off the icepack (i'm in MN). so my q is, has this happened to anyone else? am i grabbing too far up or pulling too hard or do i just need to tighten my din settings?

crank up the dins, or get look bindings.

they were salomon s912ti's on some demo 177 stl's. i had them at like 10.5 i think. yesterday on my look zrs (race stock) bindings i popped out right on the landing and had a pretty nice crash. overall, i hate bindings in general. i guess it's better to have one pop off then not pop off when i really need it

aha! mine are salomons as well. and i saw a pic of exactly what happened to us in skier magazine, the dude was rocking salomons. conspiracy? what, salomon doesnt support mute grabs? i think so...

Two weeks ago I took my new AR5s /w tyrolia bindings out for their first ride. I landed switch off a jump and my dins were set way too low (6.5; I'm 150, 5'9) and both the back bindings unclipped. I landed right on both my knees on the icy landing... go quebec!!

Its not your din if its at 10.5...probably need to check the horizontal release on your bindings, make sure nothing is loose. If you are in the park all day long it bangs the shit outta your bindings, so take a look. Also, are you on risers or flat mounted?

is your top toe pressure set properly (salomon's have that adjustment), did you have any snow or anything (like a pant leg) caught in the binding (messing up the forward pressure. It honestly could have been a bunch of different reasons it happened.

Joel is the antichrist of the binding religion. The used 810s I got with my skis turned out to be the worst binding ever. Have that shit so tight and they still come off. I was bustin a 7 the other day and as soon as I popped my ski ejected and nearly hit some gaper falling off a rail. I continued to rotate and did a sweet one footed landing to death. Thank you low-end Salomon bindings!

My 912s on my other skis work great though....

This used to happen to me all the time. Get look bindings or tighten absolutely everything up and that will help. One footed landings are steeze.

My Look Nova 11's suck and the breaks have broken off 4 times now, pisses me the fuck off and costs me

^ If you want your skis flying off down the hill when they release, then yes.

I sincerely hope that my new Looks are better at landing switch than my old Salomons. It seems to me like there isn't really a binding out there that's exactly tailored to freestyle yet, except maybe the Reactors or Look Jibs. Maybe somewhere down the road the toe and heel pieces will be more similar.

everyone knows that salomon bindings have like a billion adjustments, and yeah ive fallen out of my skis on things i shouldnt like little 10 foot rails 1 foot off the ground, but its not that bad.

The other day I hit a table and I went for a 3 mute and my ski popped out right when I took off...I freaked out in the air, landed switch with one ski, took a pretty nasty fall

haha my friend was doing gay straight air mute tweaks as a joke and it happened to him. quite funny

i had a similar problem trying a 3 last year, one of my skis just flew off because of the rotational force. anyway, if ur din is already cranked high, check the wing adjustment first to see that the wings are in contact and snug with ur boot....then check the toe adjustment: it's the big screw on top when u look down on the top of the toepiece. slide a really thin card or regular piece of paper b/t the friction pad-thing and ur boot.... crank the screw till u can barely pull the card/paper out.... it'll screw up ur din a bit, but in a good way if ur goal is to not come out of them.

^thanks for the help but i know they were adjusted right since i did it myself and i've done it hundreds of times. i tested some p12's today by setting them up for my boot and pulling on them like i'm doing a grab and they pop off just the same as the salomons. i just need to either crank up my toes or not pull my grabs so hard.
