Fuck the Connecticut DMV

So today there were some changes made to the DMV (department of motor vehicles, incase its called something different where you are) locations in Connecticut and its absolutely rediculous.

In Connecticut we have 17 DMV locations, but as of today, August 12th, only 4 full service locations, with limited hours. The 13 other locations have even MORE limited hours, and limited services.

The law for getting a drivers license here is that you need to hold a learners permit for 6 months, before you can get your license, or if you spend 500 dollars on a certified drivers ed. class, you can get a license in 4 months. And that is what I, and many other people from my town do. Today on the news someone said that appointments were all booked until 7 months from now. So for me if i add up the time before i can get my license it would go from previously being october 16th, to april-may...

So if any of you are feeling nice, and want to help me and all the other enraged 16 year olds, send an email to our great governor dan molloy, but please keep it professional, because it would just be hurting us if you send a hate/swear filled email.

So, you are mad, because someone told you that someone on the news said that it is a 7 month wait for drivers ed? You do know you don't have to do drivers ed through the DMV right? And besides, CT blows anyway. Sucks for you 16 and unders.

To get your drivers license? Because for that all you do is go and wait in line.... no appointment.

or

To take the test? Again, you don't have to do that through the DMV.

We'll see who's talking when I'm driving to your house with a baseball bat exactly 6 months after my birthday....

yeah just to take the test i have to wait an additional 7 months, when i already paid 500 so i could get my license early, and yes you do have to do it through the DMV

Well they must have changed that, because I took my drivers test where I did driver's ed. Took the slip in to the North Haven DMV a few days later and got my license.

well assuming you're 16, then you'll be 19 when i have my license, so unless you become incredibly rich and self-dependent within the next 2 years, yea, youll still be there.

see ysa in 2014!

Our DMV has drive-thrus. Win.

Yall's states fucking suck. I completed my drivers ed and driving test as part of HS. Then went to the DMV and took 10 minutes to take the written test and paid $30 for a license.

^

also my dmv rant threads.

Heaven = fresh powder

Hell = Waiting for hours at the dmv, having them tell you you're in the wrong line, waiting more and then having them close.

Next time find a Drivers ED school that can register tests via the DMV through their cars. Thats what mine did. I didnt step foot in a DMV until I needed to prove I passed my test.

that sucks and i feel for you. but looking back at my highschool days, you don't need to be on the road for ATLEAST another 7 months. I don't care if you're the most perfect driver in the world, 16 is still too early to be without a parent driving, unless you've been driving since like 13, but even still...you probably won't like this response, but when you get to my age you'll realize I (and everyone else) is right.

have you called yet? i can guarentuee thaats BS cuz a family friend of mine took his daughter in to one DMW in old saybrook, one that is closing and they said they couldnt do road tests anymore since they were closing, but they were able get an appointment the next morning in Bridgeport. This was 2 days ago and they scheduled it one day in advance, none of these 7 month shennanigans.

i agree as well, from what i hear he is taking a bunch of money from crucial areas, like the transportation department, and giving shitloads of money to the tourist industry instead. Even if you make the tourist spots nicer, its still going to be connecticut and there are a bunch of much nicer areas to visit in the surrounding states.

i will, but it already would take 5-6 weeks to get an appointment, and we used to have 5 locations for this area to go to, and now its down to 1

I DUNNO HOW MANY WE HAVE HERE IN ONTARIO BUT THERES 1 WHERE I LIVE AND IT CLOSES AT 5 SHIT SUCKS. ALSO IVE BEEN WONDERING, IS THRRE GRADUATED LICENSING IN AMERICA? IT SUCKS ASS

yeah there is a graduated drivers license... Once i do get my license, ill only be able to drive up until 11pm, and then ill need to have it for a year before i can drive friends....

BUT CAN YOU DRIVE BY YOURSELF? WE HAVE TO DRIVE A MINIMUM OF 8 MONTHS WITHA FULLY LICENSED DRIVERWITH OVER 4 YEARS EXPERIANCE BEFORE WE CANDRIVE SOLO

that sucks... In NH you start driving with a parent in the car at 15 1/2 and can get your license right when your 16 as long as you took drivers ed. Once you get your license you can only drive one friend for the first six months and cant drive from 1am-5am until you are 18

Public sector jobs, like DOT workers, cost more than they're worth. Who cares if these scumbags would sooner turn to crime than gainful employment.

ok, well now that they freed up some money by firing the fat desk jockey bitches at the dmv they can afford to fix more pot holes.

no no you don't dissolve it, idiot, you cut it back to where there is an equilibrium. Obviously OP is still gonna get his license, was it really worth it to have an office on every street corner?

you realize their state paychecks are funded by taxpayers right? And taxes paid by people in the public sector (DMV workers) are still just being paid by the taxpayers original money... The dollar just gets raked over the cheese grater over and over.

oh and my bad on the dmv/dot mix up, but it really doesn't matter as nearly every government job is a losing deal for people who actually bring currency into this country, and reducing the spending anywhere possible is a good idea.

If someone isn't really helping us out one way or the other(working an overpaid government job or going on welfare) I don't feel like it should be the tax payers burden to give meaning to their life.

I JUST SCHEDULED MY DRIVERS LICENSE TEST FOR AUGUST 26TH....... In willimantic. an hour drive for me but im not waiting 2 months to go to places closer to me
