first off, i want to say that i have no disrespect towards newschoolers itself and MOST of its members.

there are some things that go on, though, that really piss me off. it seems like every time somebody makes an edit, whether it is sick or it sucks, many NS members rate it like a 1 or 2 unless their name is in orange. and for comments its almost like every time you post a video you get shit on by someone who is "way better than you" but has 3 karma points and joined yesterday. a lot of times these people take videos off of youtube and claim that it is them, when truly their best trick is a straight air. i dont think it should matter if someone sucks as long as they arent full of themselves

for everyone who will read this and instantly look at my profile, i know and understand that im not a great skier, and frankly i dont care.

so to this, i say fuck NS

It is true that NS is full of haters, but quite frankly you need to stop giving a shit. I remember when I was younger and thought being cool on NS meant something, or that it mattered that some random person was hating on me over the internet. Fact of the matter is, it just doesn't matter. I've had arguments with people on NS and then met them in real life and found them to be awesome people
 
i understand what you're saying. the one thing that i'd like to point out is that karma means NOTHING.

when i was in my first year of ns, i thought it was a big deal, until i realized how flawed the system is. if one wants to get a lot of karma, upload a fuckton of videos, pictures, whatever and there you have it. i am not proud of my "large amount of karma" because it doesn't really matter. if anything matters in my mind about the whole karma system is the "what others rate you." if that is high, you know you're a legit member, if it's low then who knows... you could still be a legit member and people hate you for no valid reason, or you're a "bad" member.

a "bad" member could mean you post useless shit, hate on others for no reason, or are just a straight up retard.

so, i understand where you're coming from, and plenty of people on this site are just normal guys trying to get their fix of skiing while they're not actually on their skis, but there are exceptions. i had a few in mind while writing this, but i'm going to keep their names confidential.

i absolutely couldn't stand a member due to his posts, etc. but once i met him i realized he was really cool... haha. funny how that works

I think the best way the karma system would work is by showing people their average rating out of 10, not just a number
 
I was kinda the same only i thought you would be one of those guys that is awesome and wouldn't talk to me because i'm not that good, not that you were hatin on others, your just a high ranked dude. But when i met you, you were nice and pumped me up on some stuff.
So basically don't judge and be a bitch until you met them in real-life, then do what you want

karma means nothing, so therefore people rate your shit low because they don't like you

look at big_spence for example. the kid's a complete jagaloon, i've been on here longer, my average rating is higher, i have more pictures, same number of videos, more feedback, same contributor status, and his karma is double mine. the only explanation is that some mod feels bad for him because he's such a tool so he got karma bumped

also i feel like you wouldn't be making this thread if your videos were rated high...

it's the internet, everyone's an asshole, it just depends on how big of an asshole each person is

i agree with this. i posted a vid of my friends first dub back and it was rated 2.4 ish for a while. i kinda angered me because he was really killing it and didnt deserve a shitty rating.
 
If we all agreed with each other and we all got along, NS would shrivel up and die. NS is like your family. It's dysfunctional as hell but you still have to love it. Just enjoy the ride.

everyone who thinks that the hating is bad on NS... if only you were around for the FREEZE Forum days. back when internet hating was fresh.
 
Here's my damn story! I joined this site a little bit more than a year ago. I freeski for like 3 years now, that means, being interested in the sport and make it to your daily life. (watching videos the whole night,going to competitions, the whole dresscode shit, tricks, just everything). Before that, i raced. Yes, i was a racer, for more than 5 years, before i started to ski. But does that matter now? I mean, i have privileges in powder and i know HOW to ski. And i will have that forever. But then i got tired of racing and all that stuff, so i decided to do something that is FUN. Freeskiing. Being out there with my friends and having a good blithe day. Thats why i came to this site this one day to read something about Jon Olsson. It's three years ago. Never came back till like 1,3 years ago. Since then, im here like every other evening, or even more. the whole NS system is not something to take serious, is not something to be afraid of, is not something to argue to death. Everybody here wants the same: Having a enjoyable day out there in the snow and do what is fun. Alot of ppl here aren't as "cool" as they are here. Here are ppl from all over the world. We gotta appreciate that. And then, after a boring day of school, or i hope work, or having trouble with your girlfriend, or whoever, then u log in here and laugh your ass off about some stupid shit. Shit that means something. Sometimes that can make your day. On the other hand u can be impressed about an awesome ned edit. Doesnt matter how long you are in here, or how many posts, or how much karma. All that doesnt mean that much. We're definitely the most creative, inventive, relaxed, calm and easygoing COMMUNITY. If theres hate for a minute, get over it. Real life is out of the internet. Please care less about what ppl write on here. We're just a very special group on this planet.

Its just fucking my opinion, sorry for that "long" stuff i just wrote. I enjoy coming on here and talk about bullshit or skiing with ppl that have the same interest. FUCK THE UNNECESSARY COMMENTS! peace
 
Idk but it seems like the regional forums have a lot less hate than the major ones. Probably because there's at least some accountability there.
 
its seems pretty bitchy but i honestly generally rate peoples videos depending on how good the quality of the filming is. the skiing is 2nd rate to me cause i just cant stand to watch videos people upload in shitty quality (same goes for music). sometimes if its really good skiing but bad filming ill still give it 10/10

People don't rate down videos cus they aren't from orange names...3 of the top 5 top rated right now aren't from orange names.
