God damn hes such a tool. It pisses me off that he the link to the non skiing crowd. Gives us such a bad rep. Stick to fuckin MTV son.
 
Im sure that if you would do as good as he did in skiing, and had the opportunity to make a few millions, you guys would say no eh??
 
lol, moseley is so ... id ont even know, he's just moseley. I dunno if itd be better to live with him or without him. You look at him and hes so hollywood it's funny, he seems like the total 80's mogul skier look, but yet somehow keeps it barely newschool. I dunno, just picture him standing next to Dumont and now you know what i mean.

Thing is, he's got some pull, i mean he did pull off that wicked cool sesh the other day in san fran. I would actually like to have him in the loop, but hes got a lot of un-selling out to do.

i didnt like how the crowd went ape shit when moseley dropped in, but when tj, or andy, or kye dropped it was mediocre cheering
 
Cause everyone knows who Mosely is, nobody knows who the other pros are. Its like if you named me some good, famous BMX d00d that isn't in the x games, i'll be like, Wha? Still, mosely has the reptiore to get people to back something like icer and hes using that power to bring skiing out which is alright with me.
 
hes a big name to the non-skiing crowd, and since they were in fuckin san fran, thats prolly the only name to come outta skiing that they know. plus, its all about the cheers after the stomp, not during the drop, that says it all about your skiing.
 
the man is getting older... fame gets to the head... don't expect him to be tossing like he used too... if i made lots of money i would keep skiing... but maybe tone it down a bit just so i could enjoy my money.
 
Well it's because of Moseley that any of us have a game to play, not to mention at one point he was the best in the world as judged by the International Olympic Commitee, and just because you don't like him doesn't mean you have to fuck him...how can you be pissed at a guy for making money? Baseball players do commercials all the time, i don't think it means that they're not real baseball players...
 
What do you expect from a bunch of people in San Fran, who I'm betting know very little about skiing, not to mention newschool skiing or any of it's "stars." He's a face the gen. public recognizes.

you CAN'T credit mosely with being the reason any of us have a game to play, JF did 360 Mute grab in the 1996 Canadian Senior Nationals, and by 98 Mike D JP JF and the boys had already been working on the 1080. Granted he gave the trick world wide exposure, even if he hadn't done it we'd all still be doing what we're doing today thanks toe the origonal guys!
 
i don't care what all you little kiddies are saying. he has to fight tooth and nail to put on a big air comp in the streets of san francisco, showcasing some of skiing's best athletes, and you are criticizing him? you're all out of your minds.
 
Regardless of the face, newschool skiing made it to front page of the San Francicso Chronicle. That attracted so much interest. I don't think everyone knows how huge this is. Most of the people there don't even ski. Now, a lot of them will. There will always be core companies, but the large companies are the ones who bring in the money. This made them tons. Without them, skiing suffers greatly. Moseley sold out in a major way. He also gave a bunch of it back to skiing Thursday.
 
mosely can do what he wants man, he had to oppurtunity to become a millionaire and to live a sick life. everyone would have done the same, its his life he does what he wants.
 
hahaha you guys are dumbasses. Ripping on mosely is so old, I mean come on. In 2000 he was throwing switch rodeo 7s, rodeo 9s, 1080 mute grabs, sliding down rails, etc. The guy was VERY good. He's paid his dues, granted he got a lot more exposure than some other people that maybe deserved it more, but he definetely earned what he got.

By the way, the way most of you kids talk on here and the amount of materialism I see on these threads, I wouldn't want to see what would happen if some of you got that much fame. It would bring a whole new meaning to the word "sell out"
 
^watch his interview on the icer video. He makes newschool look stupid. sure, he was throwing down once, but he has the same style now as he did then, which was all penciled out, and lame. His interview made him look liek an idiot. " I leanded exactly where I invisioned it, right in the sweet-spot". he sounds like a gaper.

If he sounds like a gaper, then he may connect with the general public more(which are the gapers). And they may feel more comfortable joining the sport when they can understand what a person is talking about. Throwing all other terms in, casing, steeze, fakie/switch, corked, the gapers will be lost and feel alienated. Mosely gives them a familiar face and speak and I'm sure Mosely does nothing but bring people to look at skiing as 'cool' rather then, "WOW THAT WAS SO PENCILED OUT AND LAME SKIING IS LAME NOW".
 
the hoe-larious thing about him is that he thinks he is good at skiing. i mean, his nagano olympic 360 mute was the first competition 360 which was pretty sick and it looked like shit yet it made him so famous. and his dinner roll 720 (d spin) was totally gay yet he still thinks he is the skiing king. he should be put up against sean pettit and he would get his ass handed to him on a plate!
 
mosely seems like a cool guy.... but i can understand y people dont like him, he acts like he is the best out there..

First Off - He has done more and moade more out of this sport than ANYONE on this site.

Second - He is a better skier than ANYONE on this site

Third - he won a GOLD medal for our country

Fourth - He has always been a promoter of our sport...The JM invitiational is one example

Fifth - When YOU are old and broken HID name NOT yours will be rembered in the cannon of skiing

He has done more and brought more attention to our sport than any current "pro" skier has

Skiing is a rich mans sport, the words "sell out" cannot be used to describe anyone who succeeds in this endevour

how about next time your at squaw i'll inroduce you to him and you can explain to his face how much he sucks at skiing
 
mosely is a boy scout, also julien r-laforge did the johnny mosely before johnny mosely and he got 18th, stupid politics. and another thing is in the 02 olympics he didn't even do his dinner roll he did a cork 7 and everyone there was like "yay he did the dinner roll" he should die. yep.
 
I could have sworn that to sell out means to get paid to stop doing what you love and do something else.

MTV did not walk up to Mosely and say "We'll give you lots of money to host our show. BUT YOU HAVE TO STOP SKIING!". I think he was happy to host whatever that show was, and did not do it just for the money.
 
^yeah, its even like pinners name, basically everyone is hating on the guys who started our sport. who cares, the guy needs some money and maybe he has started a trend for shows like that in america?
 
when i was at the bay for icer air, these two chicks were like jonny jonny will you sign my shirt, i love you!!!!! i almost pucked. but he was the man but kinda sold out but i like money, but i like money to fuel my skiing and mosleyt doesnt really ski anymore, so he does sorta suck.
 
I met Mosley at the Coachella music fest in So. Cal this last summer. He seemd to be a pretty cool guy. We talked briefly about all the major peaks in so cal., and then I told him that I owned SpX clothing (ski punx)

It was just pretty funny meeting him , because his line is called (ski)...I think we were both trippin...but he was still cool. But the Mtv shit is kinda gaper'ish. He still is a strong skier!

its funny that people think that but he does ski and he skis mmor eand better places than most of us can ever dream....

i.e. Points North with Kevin Q. in Valdez, N.Z with morrison, terje and the johanson brothers...the list goes on, he is WAY off the radar and doing it cause he loves it...we could only all be so lucky.. no need to beat yourself up or worry about some stupid new fad or what some groms on a website percieve as core.
 
oh and i saw a pic of his 360 in my local newspaper. he was at 180 with one of his arms up and the other on his weiner with a 20 degree cross
 
Normal peoples are impressed by the fact that he was like the gold medalist in m,ogul in the day.

Every non-skier i talk with know moseley, but whne they watch a video like the one that shows him doing a 360 while kids like rainville are doign corked styled out 3, they all think he should just stop trying to be cool and pretend he is still in the elite of the sport.

the reason his nagono 3 was so cool was that for the first time judges rewarded a non-upright maneuver...his sleght break of form to grab his skis went against many of the judging criteria of the time...mogul skiing was and is a very controlled judging environment and his 360 mute could have been a bad call had the judges not been progressive...it may seem funny now, but back then it was a big leap for judging and for an american to win a gold in skiing!!! not too many americans have won gold and he did it beating some incredible internation skiers at the same time
 
wayne lanks and the few others who arent insane, thank you. every time i was on the verge of vomiting on my keyboard due to the rediculous hating, you saved me. i can retain at least a shred of faith in some of the membership of this site.
