Fuck Me Air France - why are you so shit at everything?

They appeared to be in quite a hurry run away...

Maybe someone had told them "ze germans" were coming

this thread is the height of aviation ignorance.

The delta CRJ is sitting there with it's tail sitting over the taxiway. The pilots on the Air France plane can't see the wings of their own plane.

And 3 accidents in the last decade isn't terrible for one of the world's largest airlines, especially since only 2 cost lives. And let's see...one of the accidents was caused because of shoddy mechanic work falling off an American plane that took off before it, and the other was due to the aircraft having a mechanical problem due to the weather/manufacturer.

That's debatable.....

And Air France knew about the Pitot issue... and chose not to do anything about it.

This is typical of French arrogance.

The pilots on the Air France plane shouldn't have passed the Delta flight. they dont need to see the wings in their plane, which they can BTW. if they had been paying attention they would have know they were not clear of the delta flight before they even passed it.

oh they can? So you frequently pilot a380s? Because all the reports I've read from Airbus say they can't see the wingtips.

By the way for anyone who's seen the video...apparently somehow the frame rate is sped up. Crazy video overall, but i guess the AF plane wasn't barreling down the taxiway at 60mph like the video seems to show.

The Air France crew is of course, partially at fault because in the end...they did fucking hit something with their plane.

But now I'm also reading that the Delta plane stopped at the wrong line while being pushed back. They should have stopped earlier, but misread the map or something of that sort, and came to a stop at the later line, which means the back end of the plane wasnt clear.

The fault should be pretty evenly spread then, because AF shouldn't hit another goddamn plane regardless, but the Delta crew also didn't put their plane in the right position.

And as another semi-useless detail, CRJs are usually manned with about the lowest commercial pilots possible. The new guys with less experience. A380s on the other hand, are the flagships, and usually piloted by the older, most experienced crews.

This or possibly the crj was pushed back incorrectly. And on subject of the thread, wasn't it an AF A330 that was lost over the Atlantic Ocean last year?

don't they have lines to follow in the taxiing lane with the corresponding plane type so that wing span diameter is accounted for?

My best friend is an A321 pilot, and I can tell you that in most modern jets, the pilots cannot see their wings, let alone what's happening behind them (although A380's do have "rear view camera's like new cars these days...)

It is always the ultimate responsibility of the manouvering aircraft to have final say in proceeding with a ground manouver regardless of what ATC says... a Lesson Learnt from the 1977 Tenerife carnage...
