what are those laces at the bottom of the buttons ?

I strung a lace through the bottom ribbing so you can cinch up the bottom a bit. The hoody was flappin a bit in the wind on my strong but skinny stature. Lace matches the upper lace too. No cuts were made. Jiberish shouldve made them stock on a hoody this big.
