Front Swap to forwards

I have been doing swaps for about a year now and I still can't front swap to forward. I just can't wrap my mind around it. If I try to set my front edge when landing, I just land like 45 degrees on the rail and usually slip out or fall off early. Are there any strategies for this or do I just need to be better. I can kfed inconsistently, so I know I'm somewhat confident in my swaps. I really want to learn fs f2 this year.

How good are you at sliding rails unnatural?

Pretty bad. Ive only tried it once or twice but I slipped out both times. I never really bothered to learn it and focused on other stuff.

Try to get your shoulders to the opposite direction (which way you’re landing your swap) then grip with your front ski before landing on the rail.

Just do a front swap then instead of going backwards go forwards.

Why you acting like oh if I angle my ski at exactly 45 degrees and offset my right hip at the same time maybe I'll have a good scissor. Bro stfu just go forwards.

For the sake of not being a dick though, and I say all that lovingly btw.

Try to frontswap from unnatural into your natural. I forgot how to frontswap from my natural to unnatural and I just hit the rail unnatural if I'm gunna do a frontswap. Its cooler yo learn that way anyways cause it sets you up wayyy easier for learning fs pretzel 4 or 2. Plus you can call it unnatural fs pretz 2.

It's pretty clear that what you are doing is not rotating enough when you're thinking about going front swap to forwards, and possibly when you are doing all your front swaps. If you are doing fs to switch or even kfed, it doesn't really matter if you are only getting to 45ish degrees with your skis when you land, because your body keeps rotating and the skis follow it to 90 and beyond. But if you are trying to stop your skis rotation landing at 45, then you'll probably slip or fall off early as you described. Working on sliding unnatural can definitely help you feel comfortable with landing that way, but I know plenty of people, myself included, who can swap or spin to unnatural slides but never slide unnatural without doing so, so it isn't totally essential (it's still a good idea, I wish I had done it more).

Most important is to focus on how much you are rotating your skis when swapping. If it's not basically all the way to a proper rail stance (around 90 degrees to the rail) after the front swap, it's hard to go to forwards or front 2, especially when you aren't comfortable unnatty. So basically, work on increasing how much you are swapping when you do it to switch. Are you landing 90ish? When you are, try to do the same with your skis but keep your upper body facing down the rail more and you should naturally come to forwards (you don't need to grip that much to just go forwards). Like someone else said, it can almost be like a shifty at first. Once you get used to stopping the rotation, the fs 2 will come pretty easily.

You gotta practice that my man its 50% of the equation. I used to suck at holding on to a swap then I started sliding small flat bars and other stuff opposite foot forward and my rail skills improved all around. Still feels super weird and sometimes sketch to do but is definitely something you should get to learn regardless. Good luck?

Having unnatural front 2s down will help you like crazy.

this. I learned unnatty fs to natty f2 last year. Practiced a shit ton more of unnatural slides and now I can get natty as well as unnatty fs f2s not totally consistently but still hype.

Finally figured it out. I see what you mean by needing to do a shifty. It didn't feel that awkward though. I was trying it on a 40 ft long milly tube and I was able to lock and slide the last 10 ft unnatural which felt really nice.
