From Minnesota, Going to CSU- ski passes?

I'm from Minnesota, but I'm going to Colorado State next year and have no idea what kind of ski pass to get, and would love any advice on where the best places are/what the best deals are. Also, how far is the closest place to ski from Fort Collins? I'm used to driving 15 minutes to get to my hill...

I got to CSU as well. I get the epic local pass. Its the best value and the best skiing. Its like 2hr 30min to Breck and Key. Best skiing in the area, and lots of people to go with. Sucks its so far but Fort Collins is fun and worth the drive to ski.

I go to CSU too, I moved here three years ago and have rarely had a problem getting to the hill.

The resorts are not super close. The closest one I believe is Eldora, which isnt on any of the conglomerate passes (still can be fun though!) and its still about an hour and a half. The next closest is probably Winter Park which I happen to like a lot. The traffic is brutal at times and having to drive an hour further than all the Boulder/ Denver folks kinda sucks but, you get used to it. I happen to love driving so it rarely bothers me except during crazy tourist time (spring break/ winter break, MLK weekend etc.) .

A lot of Fort Collins people dig Steamboat (me included!) It's still not close and the drive up the canyons can get nasty but, its closer to us than it is to many other cities. Loads of fun when there's lots of snow, otherwise...meh.

I've had both the 5 mountain pass (Breck, A-basin, Keystone, Vail and Beaver Creek) and the Rocky mountain super pass/ real deal from working at winter park (Winter Park, Copper, Steamboat, and anywhere i wanted that isnt Vail owned) and I have no complaints about either one, but have preferred winter park and copper. The only thing I missed about the 5 mountain pass was A basin high elevation, never super crowded, beer is usually abundant and I always have a blast. A good way to get a deal is get your pass early, especially if it's before you turn 18 or 19. You can still get some real good junior rates.

Living in foco, I've realized most people seem to have the Winter park/ copper pass but, there's plenty of folks with either one. Get involved with snowriders club too, easy way to meet people and weekend trips to the hills.

I'll be a senior next year and since I'll no longer have to go to class on saturdays I'm sure my jeep and I will be heading for the hills quite a lot . Hit me up if you have any questions about foco/ csu (especially if you're in the Warner College, I'll sing their praises all day!)

Hey I am in Warner college! I'm not going to have a car, so are there buses that go to the mountains, or is it hard to find transportation?

Kick ass! What are you majoring in?

There are some buses that leave from christy sports through the city but, I've never tried them.

Snowriders sends vans/ carpools up most weekends in the winter but, finding people with cars going to the mountains isn't too hard :)

I'll be a junior at CSU next year. Finding a ride to the mountains shouldn't be too hard, especially if you're a natural resources major. I guarantee every NR kid in your classes skis or boards. I've never taken the bus from Christy's or the snowrider's bus before, but I've heard good things about them as well.

I think it should be mentioned that cameron pass is a mere hour ish away and offers excellent backcountry and minimal people.. (bring your avy gear!) You'll dig foco, fun place to live. Warner College is awesome, you wont have trouble getting to the mtns knowing people there. Also, for a pass, I definitely recommend the rocky mtn superpass wells fargo deal. If you play it right you get copper/winter park with 6 days at steamboat for like 200

I think I'm going to go with the super pass, I'm not 18 yet so it's still pretty cheap. Good to know about Cameron pass, I don't know if I could bear having to drive 2+ hours every time I want to ski. And what's this about it being free..?

And caroline., as of right now I'm majoring in forestry although I don't know if I'm gonna stick with it

Cameron pass is just a backcountry area. Most resorts are gonna be 2+ hours away unless you're really hauling balls and theres no one on I70

I'm a double major, one of which is forestry too. I love every bit of it!

I may be your TA!

I would go with the Epic local pass no doubt best resorts and 3/5 people that you meet that ski at CSU have that pass its only like 1.5-2 hours if you speed to keystone and about 2.5 hrs to breck but soo worth it traffic is a bitch on the way back
