From Freedom to Fascism

well I don't really have time to watch right now but I can imagine what it's like and I can imagine my self agreeing with it

Im not even going to watch that before i say this:

You who have not lived in Europe and have not talked to people who lived under real fascism and seen what fascism does to a country and been to the memorials to those who died under fascism, you guys don't what the hell you're talking about.

You throw the term around so often and for so many reasons that you belittle what TRUE fascism was and did. Stop it.

I get the message the film will probably have, but please: you know nothing of fascism if you compare the USA's current fall out and what Mussolini, the true fascist, and Hitler did.

"None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free" - Goethe

Watch the fucking video. It directly relates what's happening to us with Nazi Germany and Italy under Mussolini.

where are our genocides, our terror police, our banning of all other parties, our coup d'états, our dictatorships, our expansionist desires and imperialism?

Genocides? Nope.

Terror Police? If you mean the CIA, wire tapping, the Patriot Act, you may have a semblance of connection to fascism, but nowhere near on the same scale as what happened over there.

Banning of all parties / dictatorships? If that movie even dares to associate the republican rule with that, it's simply preposterous, seeing as now you'd have a majority of the opposite party in power, and it was their inaction that allowed the republicans to govern like they did, not because of some coup de force.

Expansionist desires/imperialism? If they compare Iraq with Abyssinia, Corfu, or lebensraum in general, they're way off key. We wanted to go in and get out, never go in and stay in.

If they talk about war for profit, two words: no shit. that's what all wars are about.

Im extremely weary of people comparing the USA to fascist Italy or Nazi Germany, because the comparisons are all essentially unfair in that a vaste amount of similarities occur at the same time as primordial and fundamental differences that maintains the USA far from anything fascist.

Not to say that some serious issues have come dealing with civil liberties and reworking of the constitution haven't occured, but a police state the USA is not.

"From Freedom to Apathy" is better suited for an American audience.

Maybe i'll watch the thing at some point, but i know i'll feel the same afterwards.

dude, watch what you fuckin say when you compare america to nazi germany. facism does not exist here, if it did, the internet would be closed down by the govt because of all of the opinions flying freely here. Dont even try comparing the two, they are night and day. Get schooled....and come tell me when we start eliminating entire races......ho

In fact, the single fact that this is allowed to circulate and be discussed, freely, without any danger to our lives, shows that fascism this ain't.

The suspension of Habeas Corpus, the executive orders, the state of emergency decree... all eerily similar and very worrisome, yet not enacted.

When the new (most likely democratic) president is elected (fancy that!), then you won't have to worry so much.

i could only watch it for 4 minutes until i had to turn it off.

The Fed does an AMAZING job of keeping the american economy stable, and doesnt abuse their powers (because they cant). Other contries look to the the American Fed as a model of how to maintain a healthy economy.

The US has one of the highest standards of living in the world.

I dont even think that the owners of banks are among the richest people in the world (Im just guessing there).

Income tax is a bitch, but its not like thats a major cause of poverty.

if he brings up other points, then im sorry. but i cant watch that whole thing.

Ok, I am in no way saying we are currently under fascist rule. That is the name of the movie I was linking to. It's pointing out basically the falling of our democratic system and constitution. It is a rule of bankers, not a dictator. The IMF, WTO, and the Federal Reserver System dictates our policy. Also, a law was passed requiring all american citizens to carry National ID cards which is going to be inacted May 2008. Without this, you won't be able to get on a plane, enter a federal building, by a house, open a bank account, drive a car, etc. Blowing off all this because you don't believe fascism is possible here is exactly the attitude that will lead to fascism.

Now stop arguing with me and watch the video.

The Fed does an amazing job of losing the value of the dollar and redistributing the wealth to the upper class. And the whole point about the income tax is that 1. it's unconstitutional and 2. There is no law allowing them to do this, but they still do. And yes, he brings up a lot more points. If you don't wanna watch the whole video, watch the 15 minute trailor. It cliffnotes it for you.

You need ID to fly.

You need ID to buy a house.

You need ID to open a bank account.

And if you get pulled over, the cop is gonna ask you for your ID.

I dont get why you would need ID to enter a federal building... Its not like illegal aliens are gonna get into the whitehouse and go on a killing spree.

Other than that I dont see any big change.

For as long as this country has existed there have been organizations that run the country on their terms. Illegal, sneaky, and wrong, probably...But these have always existed in our country. Look back when only white male land owners could vote. Look back when black people were owned as property.

All I'm saying is that you aren't stumbling upon any sort of secret. Democracy has always been skewed and will always be skewed so long as we the public choose to give up our own right to knowledge. In a society where we are plenty available to indulge in freedoms, we choose not to.

Im gonna be honest, i dont really know the benifits of income tax. It gives the govt more money to set up social services. which they suck at doing. But its not THAT bad.

And i dont know how income tax is unconstitutional, yet other taxes arent. But then again Im sure he explains why its unconstitutional in the movie, which im not going to watch.

but yeah, kind of retarded how congress can find ways around the constitution. Like the laws around marajuana.

but anyway, i dont think America is going to fall to fascism any time soon.

USA isn't acctually facist, it's pretty far right wing but no where near facism. However the freedom is being lost and The war in Iraq is pretty much based on National pride and oil. I wouldn't say the states is facist or even close to it but I still think things need to change
