where are our genocides, our terror police, our banning of all other parties, our coup d'états, our dictatorships, our expansionist desires and imperialism?
Genocides? Nope.
Terror Police? If you mean the CIA, wire tapping, the Patriot Act, you may have a semblance of connection to fascism, but nowhere near on the same scale as what happened over there.
Banning of all parties / dictatorships? If that movie even dares to associate the republican rule with that, it's simply preposterous, seeing as now you'd have a majority of the opposite party in power, and it was their inaction that allowed the republicans to govern like they did, not because of some coup de force.
Expansionist desires/imperialism? If they compare Iraq with Abyssinia, Corfu, or lebensraum in general, they're way off key. We wanted to go in and get out, never go in and stay in.
If they talk about war for profit, two words: no shit. that's what all wars are about.
Im extremely weary of people comparing the USA to fascist Italy or Nazi Germany, because the comparisons are all essentially unfair in that a vaste amount of similarities occur at the same time as primordial and fundamental differences that maintains the USA far from anything fascist.
Not to say that some serious issues have come dealing with civil liberties and reworking of the constitution haven't occured, but a police state the USA is not.
"From Freedom to Apathy" is better suited for an American audience.
Maybe i'll watch the thing at some point, but i know i'll feel the same afterwards.
