Friend's memory issues

So we were maybe 5-6 friends at the hill taking laps in the park, enjoying a great spring day. But then, the oldest of us, a snowboarder decided to hit a pretty normal flat rail, which we all had done previously in the day. We don't exactly know how, but he bailed and landed right on his face. He was bleeding, no too badly though. When we went to see him he was alright, he even hit a few other features, including a pretty steezy 180in 180out on a up down box.

In the chairlift, he started to ask where his brother was. He was staring to forget things. Now he's at the hospital and his memory resets every 3 minutes. The doctors say he got a pretty bad concussion.. He has trouble remembering stuff that happened after christmas. He kept asking us the same questions every 2 or 3 minutes..

We're all pretty worried, just thought I would share this with you. Has it happened to anyone on here?
 
yeah the other day I hit a jump, was trying to 5, spun waaaay too fast, ended up doing a 7, but knuckled, smashed my face into the ground, had a mild concussion, dont remember the next 15-20 minutes, but after that I was solid. shit was scary though, I was out of it.
 
same thing happened to me dirt jumping, i don't remember shit but from what i was told i asked the same series of questions upwards of 400-500 times in all of 12 hours, its really fucked up when you forget 3 months of your life.
 
I know that can be scary but he will be okay.

His brain is bruised and just like the purple color takes a while to go away on a normal bruise, the side effects of a concussion take a while to go away as well.

He probably hit his head just right to effect that part of the brain.

He might be pretty confused for a few days, but he's not gone forever.

You're a good friend! =) He's lucky to have you.
 
I've had 3 concussions now...
One of them was pretty bad and I was forgetting everything... Thought it was may when it was march, got super lost in the parking lot at the grocery store because i was searching for my car... my friend had drove us and was still in the store. It went on like that for about a month.
Now if someone tells me something and I'm not paying perfect attention i forget.
 
after i broke my back ( 20 ft fall to my head) I couldnt remember any one for a week. a bad concussion will induce temp amnesia; I am sure he will be fine soon.
 
absolutely!! i can see it now the future bern helmets will look a little like this...

ah, fuck full faces unless you plan on slamming face first into a tree. mouth guards will do more good for concussions than a full face.

I've had one decent concussion in my life... 7pm on Sunday my memory goes, hit my head around 7:30pm, regain full memory sometime early Tuesday morning. they're scary, but oddly humorous at the same time... at least I think so.
 
yeah we're making jokes out of it but at the same time we don't know whether it's okay or not to laugh aha. I tried to tell him he was a skier, not a snowboarder
 
mmmmmmnope i was just making a comment on the importance of trying to protect yourself anyway you can when you participate in a risky sport like ours... if he hadnt been wearing a helmet, and landed with the same force on the back of his head, this guy could be dealing with a cracked skull in addition to the brain-related trauma he's going through now... scary scary things to be happening to friends. i hope he recovers quickly and fully.
 
haha, the same thing happen to someone i know,and my friend told him that he was attacked by a shark. apparently it didn't daw on him that he was in utah.
 
Hahah whoever was in that video kept it together so well. It's comical but at the same time it's not.

I definitely laughed really hard though when he was sliding away and he was just like "I feel like I'm dreamin!!!"
 
my buddy got one this year, first time hitting one of the 2 50 footers at my mountain and caught his heel edge on the lip, cased right on his dome. he hardly knew what way was up and kept asking the same 3 questions;
what happened??
wich jump??
am i asking anything twice??
 
I got a concussion last year and it was pretty serious. I dont remember the whole day except for little blotches. one thing that was weird though is i remember looking at my self unconsious from like a third person view. shits fucked up. vibes to your friend
 
Vibes man, that shit sucks but I'm sure he'll be alright soon. Based on what you said, if nothings really wrong aside from his memory at this point then chances are he's ok. Concussions rattle your brain for a bit but you recover.
 
I over rotated a 3 at Breck once and forgot my name, who the president was and where I was at... He'll be fine next weekend.
 
Been there done that....a couple times, it sucks. He prolly looked dayzed as fuck or like he just woke up everytime he reasked a question. My name was 10 minute Tyler for fathers day a few years ago. His sounds pretty bad being every 2-3 min but im sure he'll come around, i always do lol. Vibes++
