"Friends" being mutual

What if...we had a request system where you would only be friends with someone on here if they accepted your request or you accepted theirs? Then people wouldn't be able to have their favorite pros as "friends," but it would be more of a mutual thing rather than one person claiming to be friends. Plus, then if you don't want to be on someone's friends list, you aren't.

Random thought I've had as I realize people are on my friends list but I'm not on theirs, so I wish it was all or nothing.
 
i've always seen the "friends" section as more of a quick reference, not a socialization thing. you wanna see what certain people are doing regularly? just find them in your friends section. some people have weird names so its easier than using the searchbar

facebook already does the "mutual" thing, there's really no need for it here
