My friend Bart has been nominated for stand up paddle man of the year. He is one of the nicest guys I know and just completed an incredible trip. He paddled from the Big island to Kauai which is over 300 miles and never touched land. Paddled for 17 hours a day for 5 days and slept on his board in his wetsuit in the middle of the ocean for five nights by himself, unassisted. He took off from the Big Island in the middle of the night paddling north towards Maui because the wind is lighter but got sea sick because the swells were so big and couldn't see anything. The channels are super gnarly. Told me he would wake up in the middle of the night in the water some nights with his board flipped over. He made it and he is the man.

Would be really awesome if you could take two seconds to go here and click "like" to vote for him. Thanks!

that is gnarly. I don't think I could even boat between those islands for 5 days. Big ups, thats dedication haha.

oh and 100th "like" /claim

man of the year for paddle boarding in the ocean by himself even though he gets sea sick?

if this contest was for the "biggest fucking retard of the year" award, i'd vote for him.

ha! it's not like he's just some random guy that decided to do this. he is one of the top long distance SUP racers in the world and won the 11 city tour in europe last year which is a 200 km race. he trained for this trip specifically here on the north shore of Maui for 6 months before going.

so? it doesn't matter how prepared you are for something like this because anything can go wrong. going out by yourself with no support is not only extremely selfish but insanely dangerous. proving yourself with the proper safety precautions NEVER takes away from the accomplishment. For some reason, however, people feel the need to reward jackasses like this who feel that fulfilling whatever bullshit reason they have is more important than anyone in their life. that's not being a man, that's being a test dummy. awesome he completed what he did but he's a fucktard for doing it.

he had a beacon and cell phone. everyone knew exactly where he was at all times. if he ever needed help he would have gotten it but he didn't

do you have any idea how quickly it takes someone to drown and how slow it takes for rescuers to reach someone that's miles off shore for a rescue? honestly, you cannot be that ignorant without being in a pathetic state of denial... anyone with common sense would agree that this was a stupid stunt with "manliness" being the least contributing factor to this "accomplishment".

he wouldn't have done it if he wasn't sure he was going to make it, sure there's some risk just like the pow slopes you ski could one day rip out on you even though ski patrol bombed them but you go down them anyway. gotta live life, if not, enjoy the computer!

I'm just gonna say it for the OP. GTFO! If you ACTUALLY ski then you could apply your previous statement to you and how you're being inconsiderate to those in your life. You endanger your life everytime you hit the slopes.

But back to actual matter. It is done. Looks like an awesome guy!

so you're advocating ripping BC by yourself? am i the only one who sees how idiotic this whole fiasco is?

you kids are fucking idiots.
