Freshtival? Afterparty?

well i have late show tickets for saturday. and no one got tickets for tonight and i think only like 2 people are there saturday
 
And we're going late Saturday. So we'll be there. We weren't able to get late tickets for tonight though. So 6pm it is for tonight
 
I figured it's better than waiting in line, seeing as I'm going to the late show, and it will probably finish up around 11:30-12.
 
Saying this now; after party was bullshit. So many people had tickets, and weren't let in, meanwhile, douchebags came out of nowhere and got in. I'm seriously pissed I wasted that money
 
I didn't buy tickets but I went to check it out after the late show. Lineup was looking crazy so we ditched. glad I didn't waste the money.
 
uggh That was the most ridiculous thing. We barely got in and we had VIP. I'm glad I didn't spend money on a ticket but SO many people didn't even get in cause the bouncers were only letting in the jersey shore kids.

I was expecting some bomb ass after party, especially since it was the anniversary and armada parrty

Either way, the movies were sick, and 18+ was shows was a good idea.

Hope you guys enjoyed the movies. Apologies on the afterparty door issues. Unfortunately the place didn't live up to their end of the bargin. The place was suppposed to be 100% ours. Black Betty was understaffed, unprepared and underperformed. Then, they let 200 of their own invites. Wasn't cool.

I think those that finally got in had a good time (the DJ was awesome) but I completely understand if people bailed because of the issues.

If you have unused party tickets we will refund your money, no worries.

Definitely won't happen next year.

Yeah all of that is right... people who were in there definitely had a good time, just sucks for the people who couldn't get in.

Don't worry though, your night could've gone worse... for example, that guy who stood up to those four d-bags outside the club just after it closed, when they were getting in some girl's face and god clocked in the temple, or that guy who got knocked down in the middle of 1st street during the resulting brawl and had 5 dudes stomping on him and kicking him, or the guy who was getting beat with what appeared to be a belt from a suitcase or something... oh also the dude who got knifed in the back before we could call five o and ended up getting carted away in an ambulance.

You stay classy, Calgary. Shit got super real there...
 
Awesome movies and great venue, love being able to drink during the movies! Fucking awesome idea....but as for the afterparty, well, as mentioned it was fun if you got in.

Jam packed with guidos and douches. I mean table service? Can anyone actually afford table service? That shits like $150 for a bottle of Goose.

As said, it was fun as hell and I got the opportunity to talk with one of the managers there. I believe the bar manager. He loved having us there, it was a breath of fresh air from daily asain gangs and drug dealers he says. Which still sounded like a problem.....^

Pretty cool place though. Will be sick next year if they hold up.
 
I had a lot of fun at the party, although it would have been better if everyone from Freshtival could have gotten in and if it was just us.

I am also super glad I left when I did and didn't wait until the bar closed. Holy scary!
 
my friends and i defs found the knife and talked to the cops about it... it was right beside a decent pool of blood. it was damn gnarly. there where 6+ cop cars there, an ambulance, and a fire truck but in the middle of all that, there was a hot dog stand. the cops where chill though.
 
Night before the day of the afterparty me and my friend were walking downtown and a guy came up to me, pulled out a knife, and asked if I have been stabbed before, I was scared as fuck.

Calgary police officers are investigating two early Sunday morning stabbings near the downtown core.

The first stabbing occurred just after 2:00 a.m. in an alleyway beside a drinking establishment at 1 St. and 7 Ave. S.W.

According to police, a fight broke out between two groups of people with both sides using belts as weapons.

One individual was stabbed with an unknown weapon. The victim suffered stab wounds to their back and arm. The injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

The victim’s age and gender have not been released. The victim is not cooperating with police.

A knife was recovered from the alleyway.

Witnesses provided officials with a description of the suspect. Officers continue to investigate.

According to CPS Duty Inspector Paul Stacey, a separate, unrelated stabbing happened at approximately 3:00 a.m. along 11 St. S.W. between 10 Ave. and 11 Ave.

A brawl broke out near a nightclub entrance with approximately 15 people involved.

During the melee, a 30-year-old man was stabbed in the stomach. The wound is considered minor and not life threatening.

A woman was kicked in the chest and emergency responders believe she may have suffered broken ribs.

Four suspects in the 11 St. brawl were taken into police custody. Charges are pending.

^ yep. Haven't really found a good place yet. Republik would have been an amazing venue, plus there wouldn't be douche bags or gangs there since they don't go to republik.
 
republik might be viable if it were closer to the theatre, we'd definitely bring in more people than some of their sat night concerts. it's unfortunate that its a ways down 17th. part of me feels like ceilis or something could work but i'm not sure if the new one is big enough, the old one was definitely a little small. i think lack of douchers is gonna be more a factor of successfully keeping this a private party in the future, wherever the venue.
 
Nothing they just decided to switch things up this year. The thing about Julios is it has a weird liquor license, i.e. they're only allowed to have X number of people on each floor at any given time.

Also Schmuck was pointing out that Julios has line issues as well, it's not like this is the first year people have had to wait, last year (and well, every year) Julios was lined up down the block after the late show.

The Julios afterparties are good because they're a total shitshow.
 
I prefered julios because it was set up more for socializing than try to talk over standard fare DJ music. Bummer that black betty didn't keep it exclusive as it was quite the random scene. Funny thing though, I ended up skipping line because of the "douchebags" that I was with.

Sick weekend overall though. PolarPeak, I still owe you for that ticket. Bummer about those stabbings. Maybe it's a good time for all these young jibbers to stop idolizing gang bangers and douchebags.

Also judging by the fact that the person who was stabbed is "not cooperating" with police im assuming he was not a skier, anyone know if this was the case or not?
 
That's sad that a bunch of randoms got fighty punchy stabby. They were probably just channeling extra internal anger because they aren't cool skiers like us. Someone should get them all a snowboard or some roller skates so they don't have to hate one another.
