Im from Michigan and im traveling to france with my school this summer. All ive been hearing is how much french people, and just european people in general hate americans... is this true? and if i stand out as an american will people there just instantly dislike me, even before talking to me or anything?? just curious, thats all..

I ski at the crappiest hill ever...

Nope, especially if you are a skier; I would say the only rule is to act soberly ie not like Tanner Hall (which I like very much). French people and euro-alps-residers respect moutain a lot and you should the same while you are here. Respect the moutain, the people and don't show off. People will respect you for your skiing not for your talking. Like everywhere you will find jackasses but if you meet me we'll have a good time. Oh and don't forget do get drunk with the locals/scandis/english you won't forget it for a long time...

well ... france is a pretty left side country (even if i'm not left side), so, americans look so "capitalist". in fact, france was the number country in the world during centuries, now it's the USA: jealousy.

and we have a big superirity feeling coz' we have one of the best anf highest culture in the world, as the american one is ... well ... lower!

Just say you're Canadian... kidding: dude, you will just be fine. Just be curious, open-minded and try to use all the French you know (they like it when you try hard). Talk about the food, not politics...

Being franco-american, and knowing different parts of both countries, I can say that Americans are basically just 2 much into being an American, even on vacation to Europe. Like lets go eat hammburgers on the champ-elysees (yeah, I do it too, but I got an excuse).

The real nice thing to do is to go out and try new food, new experiences and not put the kaki's w/ the white tennis shoes PLEASE. All advice up^ there is to consider. C u in France!
