Anyone who stayed in the French Alps this summer? I need help to find a cheap place to stay for a month or so with a few friends.

Anything related to planning my summer season 2013 in the alps would basically be appreciated :-).

Thanks +K.

Not sure what that means ^^^ but think it's along the same lines as what i'm saying.

If you want to do a summer ski season then L2A is easily your best bet. If that's the case then get a job for the winter there as well and then get your job lined up for summer during the winter. I tried working there last summer but the small number of jobs are given to locals/seasonnaires so you need your foot in the door before you start applying.

If you want to do a summery summer season then try morzine. The PDS may not have the best mountain biking in the alps but you won't find the choice or variety anywhere else. the locals there are all really sound and once you get to know them they'll show you all the secret tracks they make. you can head right over to switzerland and do the champery world champs course, the swiss national track and loads more stuff. It's a great setup and far less likely to get bored than at other resorts.

The skiing there is also really sick, avoriaz has a sick park and morzine has 'the stash'

It's far easier to get a job for the summer if you were at the resort all winter.

Unfortunately I live in Denmark, and go to school from August - late June. Can't go there before then, but thanks a lot for the help anyway :-)

I was at Les Deux Alpes this summer, the parks really sick expecially if you are there around the time of kumi yama. The lift tickets are pretty cheap

I was studying abroad in germany last semester and went to the french alps for spring break. I spent a couple days in chamonix before traveling over to Bourg St-Maurice. It was a pretty cool ski town with a resort right there (Les Arcs). Im not sure if it is open in the summer but i know that Tignes/Val-Disere is and its only about 30-40 mins from Bourg.

We stayed at this hostel called The Loft, in Bourg-St. Maurice that was extremely legit. Only 20 people stayed there and most of the people were there for the whole season just working and skiing. I know that there are a bunch of people that stay there for the summer season as well. It is a dope setup with wii, xbox 360, huge tv, a pool table and stuff. All the people that were there were English or Australian ages 18-25 and they were super cool and liked to party. They just opened another hostel in Bourg as well.

Check it out:

be sure to check out there pictures as well, https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/538231_404312179591244_1728982131_n.jpg

and here is the new place:

It was easily one of the best vacations of my life staying there and skiing with those people.

A friend of mine stayed in the Rider's Apartments who I think operate under the company SMK. It's a snowboarders hostel but he said because of the price skiers were there too. He went for a month and it set him back £1000 including lift pass, accommodation, travel from Cockermouth UK (train) and his spending money (inc. food).

Didn't mention that he was in Les Deux Alpes, the glacier opens at 7.30 and closes around 12.30 daily. It takes around 20 minutes to get up to the glacier. SMK also has trampolines, miniramps and the resort offers a lot more to keep you occupied in the afternoons. Unless you love hiking one feature of course.

I'm gonna have to say that if you're staying in Bourg and summer skiing on the glacier in Tignes, you're looking at a massive trek in the morning. prob a good 1-1.5 hours to get to the top of the glacier, that is 3 hours of transport a day, and in my opinion it's simply not worth it.
