Freestyle kids...

How can you think your cool if you get tought to do everything by a freestyle coach that you pay thousands of dollars to....people that have never been coached are "underground" and sweet.(Henrik Harlaut)

dude thats sick! thank you so much! everyone who reads this will be enlightened by this genius of a God might i say.

Im not saying Henrik said this haha...im just saying he is one of the few pros that havent been coached before he became pro

TJ Schiller moguls skier, torin yater wallace mogul and racing, Colby West racing (not to sure about that one)

but alot of pro skiers were mogul skiers and or racers so i guess then tj schillers x games medals arent "cool" then

i donno really know im just saying that TJ schiller was a moguls skier and so were some others, and they are "cool" so why is he ripping on kids.....

if this doesnt makes sense then i am retarded

wake up call to anyone who doesn't know this already:

99% of pro skiers are only pro because they could afford to ski every day. Some at ski academies, others through private programs. While we work jobs to pay for skiing, they ski.

To quote a founding father who is sadly no longer very relevant in skiing "I wasn't rich, there was no way I was going to make it. Everyone who makes it comes from money, that's just how it is."

And to the jackass above, Colby is actually one of those 1%. He skied with WVA because he lived close by and the coaches couldn't ignore how good he was, so they made it work for him financially.

Also, LJ. True fucking talent.

this is probably true about how to make it you must come from money-go to camps on your parents money as an example

but i read an article by Ahmet that said he didnt come from a rich family but he got lift tickets because his mother worked for a resort

I pay for everything....like everything i work all year long just so i can ski...and the kids that are in the clubs think their so sick and their rich parents just buy everthing.. just makes me mad...not ripping on kids or anything, if your in a club thats cool. Just wanted some feed back

Most of these guys started suuuper young too. I mean like starting at friggen 10 seems like its to late to be legit nowadays. Mark abma is another guy to ad to that list (Moguls i'm sure) It would be nice to have coaching and stuff though, I mean if it was offered free you would go for it, wouldnt you?

On the other hand though, the invention of the twin tip ski was idk what 14 years ago now. Mike douglas is like 41 or so now, so he would have been 27. So he kinda started pretty late with the twin tip stuff. He's still legit today too. Anyone know at what age he started skiing?

shut up. this is known. move on, and progress as far as you can. and mostly don't let it get you down when you're skiing on 4 year old skis with no edges doing the same shit as the kids with brand new equipment who are getting coached and paying a hell of a lot more than the 600 dollars a year for the ski pass that you pay for.

What is so wrong with being coached, especially at a professional level?

This is not to say that one needs a coach to have a good time and ski at a recreational level. But it only seems logical that anyone interested in (and financially capable of) COMPETING at their optimum level would do whatever they could to do so. Just in the same way one would train and work out... a professional athlete should have a coach... right?

In what competitive/ professional sport is it not the norm to have a coach? I can't think of any

I mean... everyone knows you have to be extremely well off to become a pro skier these days (or willing to live like a bum all your life). If you got the money to go to camp why not? I wish my parents had the money to send me when I was young.

So apparently our sport is no longer cool or underground because it came from moguls. Guess I'll quit then.

also henrik's family owns a champagne company, i really doubt you can be poor as shit and own a champagne company

hahahahahaha, please tell me where you heard that henrik harlaut didnt get coached or isnt getting coached? because thats wrong he is getting coached. he didnt learn dub cork 12 blunt on his own.

why use henrik harlaut as an exampel anyway and not max hill who clearly hasnt been coached (he just has damn good style)

and btw no hate against henrik harlaut, he is my fav skier.

Congratulations bro. This thread is gay, could you care anymore about people that you don't know, and probably never met?

Sure coaching helps. And if you can afford it, why not? It's fun most of the time and you get to meet and ski with great people. And to the idea of not becoming pro without being in a program, lots of pros ex, banks, lj, colby, torin, martini all trained with clubs or went to academies.
