Freestyle in Race Boots?

I'm from a racing background but am starting to get into a bit of freestyle. I ride Lange RS 130s atm. I like having a stiff flex as I feel more in control but they don't do much in the way of absorbing shock on landings. Are there any real advantages to riding a freestyle boot?

No real advantages no. Infact the boots your in now will be much better then most boots marketed towards freestyle use.

To help with impacts make sure your footbeds are as surportive as possible. Sidas are working with foams like a d3o foam to help reduce impacts even further. These shock absorbing layer can be built into the heel stabilizer or used like a slight heel lift.

But overall don't worry about the boot it's self just make sure you have appropriate fitting done for freestyle use.

Well if you are a racer then you know how to ski correctly. And so the boots will help you a lot. Like he said though, make sure it's all fitted properly.

It might be pretty rough if you land backseat though. Try and avoid shin bang.

I ride a 130 flex boot in the park to. It really gives you more control

Like Tom said, the best boot is the one that fits your properly. If it happens to be a lower volume 98mm-ish lasted boot like the one you have then so be it. It's not even a proper race boot which means that it has ample cushioning already. If you feel like getting Macgyver on it and adding cushioning or replacing standard parts with more cushiony ones then that could be an option as well. Mike Riddle and the entire Wells family are in the Atomic Redster Pro, along with many other freestyle guys on similar boots as well.

Thanks guys, that's all I wanted to hear. They fit nicely etc. so they should do the trick I think. Was just making sure I wasn't missing out on any important features that would affect my skiing. All very helpful!
