Freeskier Mag Jam Session Update

yo yo all you little kiddies! Check this out. Thursday and Friday at Copper Mountain the park will be closed for a pro-only, invite only photo shoot. Phils Belenger and Larose will be on hand throwing it down. Saturday is the open jam session. Come jam with the pros at Copper with a DJ at the top of North America's first open superpipe this year, and do it with 2 of the best halfpipe skiers in the world. Sick.

Alos, a quick update a little further west, the top section of the Beaver Creek Park is now open. We have a 50 foot table (very sick) a 40 foot flat to slope kink rail, and a 40 foot flat down flat double kink. Very sick. The monster hip will be open soon, and the pipe in about 2 weeks.

Vail plans to open their entire park, pipe and all next weekend, on saturday the 21st.

If your comming to vail and need a place to crash, i have a little bit of space availible. There is a small fee of one case of beer, or one large bottle of Goldschlager or a handle of Skyy to stay.

hey kids, the pipe is sick. hit it today. the run it's on is steep and so are the walls of the pipe. it's nice.

It's not the first superpipe in North America since Steamboat's opened a week ago. Steamboat is opening up the new SOBE park this weekend making it the first all out terrain park open in Colorado this year. SOBE dropped millions of dollars into insurance and maintenance to make it rival the parks like Mammoth and others so be there or be square. Or you can go stand around at Copper and watch pro pros throw down.

 
um, actually you can throw down with the pros saturday, and i hear there is supposed to be a rail jam, too.

yah buddy, i don't know about you, but i ski. i don't just sit around and watch pros when i ski copper. this jam session should be pretty sweet, can't wait.

Freeskier Readers,

Athletes are arriving by plane and car, Copper's park and pipe are in the final stages of set-up, and the local NBC news reporter just left. The first Freeskier Jib Fest of the year kicks off tomorrow morning at 8:30 a.m., and chaos is the best way to describe the Freeskier world today.

But events like this are why we sit chained to a desk all summer. The next three days are going to rock.

In case you've been hiding in a cave this fall, here's the scoop:

The Freeskier Jib Fest tour is a three-stop photoshoot and party tour. The first event kicks off tomorrow. Thursday and Friday, we'll have about 20 athletes, including Sarah Burke, Phil Larose and Belanger, Simon Dumont, Jordan Monk and the Copper Freeride team, sessioning a superpipe and a plethora of custom-made kickers and rails. This is Freeskier's first big photoshoot of the season.

Saturday the priorities shift to music, fun and relaxing. From 11 a.m. 'till 4 p.m., the riders will have a jam session in the pipe, with a DJ providing tunes and Glen Plake on the mic. Immediately after the lifts shut down, the whole shindig heads straight to Endo's bar in the village.

If you live in the Front Range, get yer ass up to Copper. If not, check out the web site next week for a sneak preview of what went down. Full coverage will follow next year in the mag.

Went to Copper today (Friday). Pipe is very narrow with short transitions but overall pretty good. The hip jump is nice and the rails are wicked. The one with the up at the end is wild and the rolercoaster s is unbelievable!!

 
yah, that rollarcoaster s rail was friggin awesome. no one ever got the whole thing though, i think. paul cotter got like just 2 feet short of sliding the whole thing, it was sick.
