Freeride Comps Lack Style?

So I was just watching the video at the bottom of this page and couldn't even finish the whole thing. I realize its coverage of an event and isn't supposed to play like a pro movie segment, but for some reason style just doesn't seem to be there. All the lines look really forced to me. I understand it's a lot more difficult than it looks, but why can't the skiers be more fluid? I see a lot of big, sweeping, skidded turns rather than nice form. I feel like it should look a little more like bump form. Anyone else notice this?

I need to move somewhere with big mountain skiing, I started park way too late to ever have a hope of competing, but I feel like I could have probably thrown a pretty sick like down that slope. Enough to not embarrass myself at least.

Also I though the first place run was pretty awesome except for the part where he hesitated.

ive actually thought the same thing but you have to take into the account that most of these events are run in sketchy conditions. its hard to hit 30 footers to ice.
watch footy of last years silver king freeride and youll see alot better looking style cuz it was right on a pow day. theres still way to many people ridin in the backseat in genera tho
