So anyone know anything about them, seems like all there is to learn on the net is that they formed from the old masons of the medival times blah blah blah.

So what exactly do the modern freemasons do, what do they beleive, what the hell are they all about

oh hey

DIDN'T YOU READ THE DAVINCI CODE???? THE KNIGHTS OF TEMPLAR BLAH BLAH SECRET SOCIETY BLAH HOLY GRAIL

they are pretty much a charitable foundation now, they run a bunch of charities for people with disabilities and such. there are alot of masons in government as well

my gf's dad is a freemason, shriner (sp?), etc. like the guy above me said, they're basically just a charitable foundation...at least that's all they talk about openly....who knows what goes on behind closed doors...probably just running the world & stuff.

my highschool which used to be a huge mansion was built by the freemasons. its real dope on the inside with weird designs and symbols chiseled into the walls. by looking at some of the stuff they incorporated into the facade and interior of my school im guess ing they were/are a large union with many cult-like beliefs

freemasonry, holy shit thats some high school history shit right there. gotta be up there with the iroquois and the war of 1812.

(thats about all i remember from years and years of history)

Everyone says they do charitable shit which I understand, but I want to know what they do behind closed doors

Do you know if a Mason has to be from your lineage to join? Or can you join if you meet the reqs?

No, you don't have to be, but it's not a simple process to become a mason. If anyone here were to ever consider becoming one, I'd suggest really steping it up wherever you can. Volunteer often and for good causes, work hard at your job, be a good father, son, etc... Basically try to be an outstanding member of society. If you're a major douchebag, doing sketchy stuff, anything questionable, then I think your chances of becoming a Freemason drop drastically.

I'm pretty sure the whole process of becoming a mason (there are a few in the family and I come from a line of em so I'm basing this off of the knowledge I've gained over the years) goes something like a so:

1.Petition the lodge; basically you ask for a questionairre from the lodge. Gotta fill this puppy out super truthfully. Then it has to be signed by a current member of the lodge.

2.The lodge investigates the petitioner: Appointed members from the lodge will meet with you, could be one on one, could be as a group, could be at the lodge, could be at your house, could be at a public place. Sort of like a job interview I guess, and also a continuation of the petition in a way...

3.The lodge will then vote on the candidate and I think it has to be unanimous. So if one person says no, then you're toast. But I wouldn't be super worried about a biased voter or anything along those lines, afterall, the voters in this case are Masons, so obviously they are pretty truthful, honest people.

4. If you're accepted then you have to do some levels of something, not sure of what but you have to be proficient with them when your done. I think there are 3 or 4. You'll likely have to work along side a current member of the lodge to become proficient at them to. Once you've proved your proficiency then you're a full member. Then there are more optional degree's/levels after that but they're optional.

Wow that's a wall of text right there. I'll see if I can post a pic of my great grandpa's Masonic necklace thing sometime. It's super cool. It's like a ball that basically opens up in to 6 separate pyramids that lay out in the shape of a cross, then has all-seeing eyes engraved in the faces of the pyramids and other symbolism. Mega cool.

so basically after looking further into it the freemasons are essentially a charitable bible club with secret codes for everything... meh

I got this scholarship from the freemasons and went to a couple of their meetings...

They were all really nice, but absolutely everything was secretive, and they all wore watching stuff. Kinda creepy, but I think they are overall good.

My grandfather is one. I've been meaning to ask him more about it, especially now that I know they give out scholarships.

I've got a friend that is a freemason, and he won't say much about it either. He said that it's not a religious cult, but you do have to believe in some sort of higher power (none specifically) and without any details their mission is to make the world a better place. Not sure how accurate that extremely vague description is, but my two cents I suppose.

the illuminati is cooler. sometimes we have joint meetings and all the freemasons bitch out when we start taking ox blood shots n shit. pussies.

A guy I went to boot camp with was one. When I asked about them he only told me the different questions he was allowed to answer, "What do you stand for." Etc. One of the perks though is that they have their own version of craigslist where they help each other out.

Yeah from what I've heard from family it has to be, 'A supreme ruler' and once again, it isn't specific. I think if you're a very active member in a church though, your chances of being accepted into a lodge go up a lot.

my family has been masons for generations, my family always told me it was a brotherhood but never told me any details. im applying when i turn 21 to keep the family tradition up
