Hello all,

I have just taken on the job as CEO of the Free Ski Association New Zealand, although the press release has not been issued, I though I would inform you all.

So about me? My Name is Fraser Grieve. From the deep south, went to Otago University, been working as an accountant in Christchurch, and my dream job came up to be involved in the ski industry. Wanaka is my skiing home, having spent many years sliding around TC and Cardrona. Last season I ski club fields in Canterbury, and I am now a converted clubbie.

So what does my job entail?

The running of the Jnr Nationals and New Zealand Open.

Increasing Participation.

Developing Elite athletes, though high performance work shops, dry land training, and coaching.

Providing a medium for any athletes that want to step up there skiing, by offering training camps with high performance coaches, to aid there progression

So as a bumper season is upon us, I am heading in for a knee reconstruction on the 18th of this month, so I wont be skiing, but I will be out there to support all of your progressions.

The Freeski website is about to be update (www.freeskier.co.nz) and once it is I will be asking for all of your support as I will keep it up to date with all the latest information, progressions, and funky extreme paraphernalia that will hopefully have you hitting each time you are on the internet.

I will be lying low for the next 2-3 weeks, but will be contactable soon at fraser@freeskier.co.nz (by the end of the week) or give me a bell 021 740 136.

I look forward to catching up with you all in person over the season. Also I would like to welcome you to offer me any ideas you have that you would like to happen in New Zealand Free Skiing.

Catch up soon

Fraser

Congrats dude, that's awesome! think I may have met you in dunedin at the freeski party/bash we through at the southern break, gnarly!

Sing out if you need support from the northern regions, good luck and I'm sure I speak for all of us here when I say "We got yer back daaaawg, gis a yell if yaz needs a hand oi"

Cheers Tim,

Will get in contact when I am up there for the air awarness tour. Will always be looking for guys to help out.

First stop though, I am off to plan a urban box/rail at the canterbury snow show for any body interested.

I will be trying to get in touch with any Canty Uni guys, so sing out if any of you are on here.

for sure, whens the canterbury snow show? i am up in auckland but would be keen for a mad mission but i would need some other crew from auckland to head down for it!!

good stuff on the job brother, im sure you will do freeskiing as a sport alot of good in new zealand. 100% behind you. keep in touch,

scotty

I went and checked out the location today. It will be good.

Only problem is getting the snow. The Canterbury University Snow contact is currently in Canada, and his mate recons it is hard to get.

Will make a call by the end of the week weather it will go ahead or not.

It is on the 6th and 7th of May.

Any body got any suggestions for NZ Free ski web site this year??

Fraser

actually i will fly instead. it will be much cheaper! anyone have a place in chch i can stay for the weekend?

You would have been more than welcome to crash at my house but I move out at the end of the week. I will be homeless until I move down to Wanaka Mid June.

Any one know of a good trailer park??

Stu Waddel has been doing it for about the past 5 years I think. I am not sure who was before that, maybe Nick Mills?

Prior to 2006 it has only been a part time position. It has become to much work for a part time position so they decided to take on some one full time. So I have thrown in trying to be an acountant while I still ahve energy and youth on my side, and taken on a role that will be challenging in the fact there is limited funding for events, coaching, and myself, but with the help of people around me we can take Free Sking to the next level, with NZ Freeski Teams, Training camps for people like yourself, and any good ideas you can come up with.

I will be here for at least 2 years, dont worry about that.

Haha.. Sweet!

For some reason i though Hamish and Jake were CEO´s of FSANZ.. What did they actually do?

Jake is the current Free Ski President, Hamish was the president for a couple of years before that. They are the athlete representitive, and the first point of contact if you need to know any thing.

CEO is looking after Funding, Budgets, Marketing, management, Strategic plan etc etc.

Nice one Fraser well done and I wish you all the best. This is where we can all help as many heads are better than one.

I know Fraser is super focused and will bring so much energy, new ideas and exactly what the Freeski Ass. needed.

All we all want to do is bring things closer together, more support for everyone and show the rest of the world what NZ has to offer.

Good shit mate

Jase

I'm looking for the same thing as you... a trailer park or anything/anyplace to stay. I'll let you know if I find anything.

I looked at the TC site, apparently a lot of staff stay at glendhu bay motor camp, might be a good place to stay. it's probably where I'll be living until I find a more permanent place.

Yeah - lets support EVERYONE - not the chosen two!*cough*wells*cough* - they don't need any help - they're good enough!

Congrats on the position, the world is ready to take NZ seriously so its time to conduct the NZ freeski industry seriously.

Here's to an epic winter...

Hell yeah there a mint places there but i'll need to find people to share with cause a 3 bedroom house is too huge for me! hehe Anyway, thanks alot for the links.
