I'm super cereal, but not as pissy as I came off in that post.
I don't see DJing as my "job"... I see the networking, all the pounding the pavement that goes on as the "work". When I DJ for other people (or even just for myself, really), I see that as the time I have to just let go of whatever worries I have and just throw myself into something. It's an emotional experience for me and is closer to therapy than any kind of "job". I agree that there's certainly a lot of work involved with being a DJ, but I've never seen the actual act of mixing as being a part of that work. The work that's involved with DJing is what enables you to spin at clubs, parties, festivals, etc- not the DJing itself.
Furthermore, none of the success you've enjoyed as been luck, dude. You've put yourself in the position through years of practicing your craft and networking to take full advantage of the opportunities that are presented to you. Sometimes they fall in your lap, sometimes you work for years to accomplish them, but everything you've accomplished has been because you sent yourself in the right direction. Don't give Lady Luck the credit you rightfully deserve, man.
