Freds Freeride...do you really need to support?

Contrary to what I have always said before there is no need to support Freds Freeride unless you want to buy products from a man that lies and shows no respect for his employees or team riders. Oh yeah and the shop had good prices back in October but jacked everything back up.

Just a heads-up...Lahoots, Ken Jones, and all the other freeride shops around New England deserve your money and support more than Haskell Thayer owner of Freds Freeride does.

The store has a pretty good selection and the prices are mediocre, I met the owner and it doesn't seem like he knows about half the things he was talking about.

sounds like somebody got fired. i think thayer is a pretty cool guy, and he always is super nice to me when i go in. sure his stuff might be expensive, but keep in mind he's trying to run his own business by marketing to a small demographic of skiers in a very competitive area.

Armadas are selling for 575 and 675 respectively, which is about the highest you will pay ANYWHERE

its an ok shop, im not trying to badmouth it. Just beware, you will pay the highest prices for anything in the place, and sometmes if u get a tune there, u will come in the next morning and it wont even be done

Soxripper was one of five team members. Recently, the owner decided to try to get the team to pay for the 2nd half of what he sold them.

Meaning if he sold u skis at a TEAM rate of 250, two weeks later he got in a bad mood and wanted the other half of the money for the skis, even though he already sold them at a certian rate

he did away with the freds team basically

and fired the only employee he had that he trusted and that actually put effort into working at the shop because said employee didn't tell his wife (the true owner of the shop) how to run the shop while the owner was taking a lil vaca to watch a nascar race in florida during the first real weekend (snow wise and busy wise) at killy.

now the employee is not being paid hours owed or being paid for copies of his movie that were sold through the shop at $18...a percentage of that he is owed. and the owner is claiming he never sold any copies he gave them away. that is not true. he would never give something of value away for free, not even to his own wife.

his wife is kickass by the way teddy. she is old but awesome. the weekend you're talking about seeing her is when haskell went away and she was pissy she had to stay in the shop all weekend

Haskell has always been cool towards me and it seemed like he had a tight connection with anthony, max, and corey. Last year he helped out when I didn't have enough $ for goggles so he gave me a discount. This year when I bought pants from him, I asked if he could give me a deal and he was rude about it and said,' this isn't a garage sale man' I mean granted that he is trying to make money but it seems like after his article in Freeze he either got cocky or money hungry.

i have been there a couple of times once to rent skis when I broke my K2's. That dude had some funny stories about surfin he seemed like a cool dude.

When shops learn that their actions have repercussions, they'll be less likely to screw people over.

that's infortunate, but it's a little funny. when you were sponsered, it was always fred's this and fred's that. then they take away your hookup, and it's fred's sucks this and fred's sucks that. if you're going to support something, support it all the time, not when it's convenient.

#1 i didn't work there. #2 i left not lost. #3 if he didn't start acting & treating people like this recently there would be no problem with the shop. just listen to the others that have posted in this thread. things have changed recently. the shop was great before
