Frames Per Second

I was wondering in some ski edits and scenes the frames per second is slowed down. I was wondering how its done weather it is done on the camera (like a setting that you can switch around) or is it done in the editing program? This may be a huge noob question but i gotta know. Thanks

well you see, one of the qualifications of being a pro such as todd walnutz is having the ability to do a 900 double tail at half the speed a normal person does it, there is no camera trickery here, the professionals are just talented

Some cameras can do it in camera, others do it using a program.

Cameras such as the HVX, HMC150 etc have a 60p record mode. This records at 60 frames per second and then you can play back at 30 or 24 to make it slow motion.

DV cameras, such as the DVX or XHA1 can shoot 60i, which looks pretty good slowed down. However, it is done in post rather than in camera.
