time in and time out fortune has provided us with a shitty park, if you want some real acton this year (as far as the outouais goes) head up to edelweiss its gonna be worth the extra 25 minute drive, opening weekend saw the begining of what should be the best terain park in the region this year, with a 18 foot flat bar, two beginer jibs and a small (but respectable sized hit for the second day of operations), edelweiss showed their intent to make a higher level park then this region has seen to date. The EV-AS crew (skiers and borders) will be heading up the park again but with more cooperation and money from the hill to build and purchase new jbs, and install some descent hits. Look no further then the EV-AS 'united' video to see the massive 60 foot table and the step up the crew set up for spring photo shoots. Once enough snow has fallen the permenant park will start taking form with many new features and much gnarlier hits and jibs then any hill has seen before

 
Awesome! Sounds like all of my years of faithfully skiing at EV is about to pay off. Do they got a park crew, and if so are they looking for people?

 
and sorry all the positions for the crew have been filled, but feel free to fix up jumps, since were only there on a voluntary basis we wont be fixing jumps 24/7, that being said there will be regular maitenace, usually touch ups will be done a few days a week and every morning on the weekend

Fortune probably wont have any jumps this weekend. Mike Hull, the head of snowboarding, is in change of building/designing the park this year. So that’s who to talk to if you have problems with how things are set up/maintained. They have also hired someone to build a whole new set of rails and boxes for this season. Some of the new features are set up on Pee Wee, until Marshall is open (regular box and C-box). There is supposed to be more to come, but I was told that the builder is a couple weeks behind on delivering some of the stuff. It will be a little while longer for jumps but at least this year they are planning to set some up, unlike last year. The park should be better this year, but remember the main focus of the resort is race programs not new schoolers :P

 
ya, there setting the perminet park up on the 20th. Thats what i was told, they also sayid they were subpost to have, a flat up box, 2 c-box(very banked) , flat-down box, down-flat-down rail, down rail, a box with slanted edges to you can do transfures and stuff and there wall. They said they would have a couple cheeze wedge jumps.

Ncd is suppost to hosting the Ottawa Freestyle something compition thing, and camp fortune is the venue they are looking at right now, they said it will be held the 26-27 on febuary. So they might have a pipe this year and they might not.

Edelweiss will have a 16ft flatbar, 22ft flat box, down flat rail, rainbow, a series of beginer and expert table tops (not like last years bad step-downs, quarterpipe. Pipe,wood, and fiberglass is being ordered to make new jibs possibly a handrail with stairs.

now fortunes got a 35-40 ft. table, 10-15 foot table, flat box, 2 c boxes, downish rail, and some weird house shaped box, no one can really figure out what to do with it yet. the flat box is smooth, others are not, dunno bout the rails, and the jumps are nice, lots of hangtime

 
just skied at fortune last friday with some friends the park is crazy good compared to what they had last year. the quality of the park is just as good as tremblant but smaller.

 
Yeah I saw it yesterday, definitely a good park this year. It's all pure ice, but hey, what can you do. Did anyone else see that group of guys skiing in the park late afternoon on saturday? Someone told me one of those guys was DC... which is beleiveable since they were doing underflips and apparently tried a switch 9. I never got close enough to tell though

 
its funny sean cause whoever told you dc was in the park was wrong, dc wasnt there, charles grant was though and it pulled a switch 7 with style.

but anyways pakenahams jumps are pretty big, they will be fun when its cold enough to get enough speed to hit them practically........ and once the stairset/handrail/ledges are complete and the dropin for speed the park will have some flow, and i will enjoy it and touch myself........
