He grabbed a fucking AR-15 assault rifle while the cops were at the door, he failed to acknowledge whether it was a burglar or not and instead grabbed his assault rifle. All it would have taken was a quick look to see if some fuck stick was trying to break in or whether it was the cops. What the fuck did you think was going to happen?
Its probably a good chance the cops did fuck up and get the wrong address. If you are about to raid a house you usually wait until everyone is in position before you attempt a breach. If a cop by the window sees a man with an assault rifle I think he wont hesitate to pull the trigger.
hah, good ol trigger happy pigs. NO HE SHOT FIRST. as he lay there dead, the safety was on. OH... WELL SOMEONE GOT SPOOKED AND WE KILLED HIM, HIS WIFE, AND HIS KID. NO BIGGY. MYYYYY BAAADD.
herpaderp, learn how to handle your weapon, little piggy. i thought you were trained to hold your finger at the side of the trigger to avoid things like this from happening..
You are retarded he's a war vet so of course he's on edge and there was a commotion at his door, of course he grabbed his gun. Fucking cops should of known who they were dealing with and got him at work or something. Seriously what did they think would happen storming an armed vets house?
really messed up. Something sounds off, being that this is SWAT and not just some random officer who uses his gun 2 times in a decade. These guys are trained quite intensely for this job.
But here's a tip for all of you, veteran or not...when a SWAT team announces their presence at your door...don't open the door with a rifle in your hand. What do you think is going to happen?
The man was supposedly involved in a ring of BnE's...the SWAT team definitely didn't intend to go in guns blazing.
as with everything else though, I'd like to hear the full story.
You honestly think the cops
A. Knew this person was a vet considering there is millions or registered vets in the USA
B. Cared this person was a vet if he was in fact a criminal?
C. Mixed up this mans address for a potential gang house which would most likely be heavily armed anyways and would most likely require deadly force.
If im a cop and someone brands an AR-15 at me damn right im going to blow him away. I dont know if he will actually pull the trigger but am I really going to take that chance? When It comes down to my life versus his I will quite frankly choose mine any day. Use common sense.
I would hope if the cops feel they have enough evidence to raid a dude they would know he is a fucking vet.
Yes I would hope they would care, him being a vet changes the situation immensely.
I would hope they didn't mix up the house, but by your assumptions of their investigation skills I could see it as a possibility, But that is not my point. The man was a vet, and should of been treated as such. The cops should of never put themselves in that situation to begin with. Why not get him at work? In a felony stop? Why at his house where he has guns?
wait wait wait so they decided to begin openly firing upon him when they mistook wood chips...from another officers shooting..for bullets? that doesnt make sense? what led to the first shot?
You're putting vets on too much of a pedestal here. The vast majority of them are great, selfless people who did something most won't. I respect that, and every one of them.
but just because you served your country doesn't mean you get immunity from the laws in that country. If this guy broke the laws in ways that merited a visit from the swat team, odds are he wasn't some saint who calmly answered the door and was blown away immediately.
The cops not only loudly announced their arrival as police and serving a search warrant. They arrived with lights and sirens, because this was a shitty part of town, known for breaking and entering, and didn't want to think this was a B&E.
When the cops came through the door, the man was crouched down on the floor pointing the gun at the police.
say what you want, but i would like to see how most of the people discrediting the cops would act if they were in an armed standoff. you see a man with a loaded assault riffle, you bet your ass youre gonna want to be the one who pulls the trigger first.
its a very unfortunate/sad thing that happened, i just dont think people should be as quick to jump on the cops without a fiar investigation - just like any other criminal
this is the only thing that rubs me the wrong way.
honestly, when it comes down to it if there are cops outside your home the LAST thing you should do is go grab your assault rifle.
when youre an armed and dangerous criminal a swat team will react to any perceived threat. those guys dont care he was a vet, and they dont really care who shot first, all they care about was that he could have started shooting them so they stopped that from happening.
Vanessa Guerena says she heard noise outside their home about 9 a.m. Thursday and woke her husband who had just gone to bed after working a 12-hour shift at the Asarco Mine, she said. There were no sirens or shouts of "police," she said.
But I guess I'll listen to the cops, since they have been so open about the situation, not communicating what was seized, mis communicating WHO SHOT FIRST.
And kudos on leaving him there to die with medics right outside.
that seems like a pretty old video, im talking like recently, past 2-3 years... and on your side of the argument, Cops are only required to take 2 classes/instruction/shooting range stuff a year... in connecticut atleast
I am in no way defending the officers actions.BUTtheir is no real evidence in that article as to why they were their. This guy could have been up to some shady shit.
Also i know a lot of guys who have done tours in both Iraq and Afghanistan and most of them have severe trauma and can snap at any second. I fear for my life everytime i hang with one of my best friends since he did his tours in afghanistan because it is so easy to make him snap. So don't go judging these swat officers without knowing all of the details.
and 60 bullets from a team of 10- 12 would mean everybody shot 4-6 times. With automatic weapons thats basically one burst. It's not like they like they held the trigger. He would easily have over 200 wounds.
this sums it up nicely
what a fucking awful story, some people are just too fucking stupid.i really don't have anything to say, this is just so rediculous. i hope whoever fucked this one up gets what he deserves.
