Form pointers

my form’s been improving but still needs work. from what i can tell so far i’m not staying gripped into the rail towards the end. my feet are pretty close together, and my shoulders seem to always rotate so that my upper body is facing down the rail.

anything else you guys can point out? hoping to work on these issues when the season in md finally starts.

I hardly ski park, but I think you would benefit from bending your knees quite a bit more. Can't help ya out with tricks though.

Looks to me like you’re shiftying onto the rail rather than rotating 90 hence your arm position

i cant make the full rotation (at least on this setup) unless i try to swing my upper body into it. do you mean shifty like counter rotating to get to 90?

If you need to swing your upper body, do it. Having your shoulders parallel to the rail will help tons for progressing.

Basically he means is that instead of actually spinning, youre just twisting your feet and hips so that your feet are in position to slide the rail. Focus on turning your entire body except your head to be parallel with the rail. Also put most of your weight onto your front foot while on the rail. Widen up your stance as well. Look at the end of the rail, not your tips.

If u putyour skis parallel to the rail you’d be doing a 50/50, don’t feel like that’s what u meant, unless u want OP to nut himself haha

see how one of your arms is kinda stuck behind you/to the side? that's fine once youre super comfy on rails and are loosey goosey but right now that means you're not fully committing to the 90* on and are twisting to make your skis perpendicular to the rail instead.

commit and get your shoulders into it. you will learn to stop the rotation (and go back the other way, if you'd like) by using pressure on the rail by yours skis (usually mostly by digging your front heel in a tiny bit)

also hunch over a little more. that'll get your weight more forward and get you into the athletic, about-to-tackle-someone stance that aids you in skiing

if youre struggling with this stage, id say start jumping on with the idea in mind that you're going to go to switch at the end of the rail. then once you get used to that you can add in the pressuring that allows you to bring it back to forward as you learn

oh and LOOK AT THE END OF THE RAIL!!! hugely important

have fun dog keep at it! you're past the hardest part
