4D im going to post you something o wrote in the DL. here it is, and btw theres an assload of typos, so try and fight through them....
There is a reason for why bush gave the tax breaks, its all a type of economy, and a certain way to run it, with which he has done a great job. If you had any idea on how the economy works, then you would understand. George Bush uses a system called the supply side theory. It was developed after the depression by a british man named.... i can't remember but it starts with a K. So in this style of running the economy, you spend more than you take in with taxes. as we all know this causes a deficit. Our money sytem is built off of blind faith and hope. The number of a deficit means absolutley nothing, unless someday we are forced to pay out everything in gold. Which will never happen. But so by doing this, you create a HIGHLY stimulated economy, because the US government is the largest spender in the world. With the newly stimulated economy, more job oppurtunities will arise, as they have been latley, and more people will begin to have jobs. So now with the people that before were living off of well fare because getting a job was so hard, are actually making a living or somewhat of a living, and are paying taxes. With the newly aquired income taxes, this allows for more money to be put back into the governemnt. Exactly like investing into a company. You give them money to Jumpstart the company, then when they begin to make profits, hire more people, and expand you make all you money back, and then some. So in the end with this new economy, more jobs that will pay income taxes back to the governemnt, the whole country greatly benefits from it. While people are freaking out about a number. thats all the Deficit is, its a number showing how much we have made back so far. and we are doing great. the economy has shown Great advancesn and we are beginning to dig ourselves out.
And about the so called 'regressive' tax plans, who hurt the poor people say. They don't directly hurt the poor. They out a tax on cigarettes and alcohol, and the sort. Well everyone buys those things and they aren't really a good thing to waiste your money one. So the government is trying to prove this by forcing it to be harder to buy thse things. to show that Buying these things is not essential to you well being. They hurt your body and the government uses the taxes to cut down the sales. Not just poor people as many democratic politicians say. they are for everyone.

skiinstead, im not saying the tax cuts are not helping the economy, although theres no way to be truly certain, they probably are. all i'm pointing out is that if you cut billions upon billions in taxes, you cannot increase federal spending, or even wage a war for that matter. every past war in US history has put an added burden on tax payers, except this one, which although was a long and drawn out series of battles, drains a huge amount of money in reconstruction

Foreigners are completely warranted in discussing US politics. One of my favourite quotes recently was from Dr Hans Blix (UN Weapons inspector) in the New York Times, who was wondering: since the U.S. so profoundly affects the lives of people in other countries without their having any say about it, why shouldn't EVERYONE be able to vote for the US president?
I don't agree with him, and I think the very idea implies that the US president is a sort of global ruler, but it's an interesting argument.

^How about because people are free to express pretty much whatever opinion they like, provided it isn't slanderous or libelous? Seems like a good reason to me. Let him say what he wants about the US government. Even assuming it isn't true, what's the point of censoring everything untrue? That would make the truth a dead dogma; we would accept it, but we wouldn't value it. Alternative viewpoints are a mainstay of free society. Even the flawed ones give the correct ones meaning.

ok, i still havnt read it but i somewhat skimmed it over, anyway, yes the solution is simple that once we have improved the econmony, taxes will be raised again. the flaw is that american politicans largely lack backbones and even proposing raised taxes is political suicide. by the time they get the balls to do it, the current working generation will be retired, leaving us to pay back the deficit of our parents.

Bush is a complete fuckhead and needs to just resign. Every month in office for him fucks us over for another year to come. He just spends money on whatever he wants and fucks education, the EPA (environmental protection agency) and NASA (even though he said he wants to put a man on Mars). He and his buddies just get richer and richer while he screws us all over in his little corrupt administration.
