Thanks dude! After class I'll post some of my favorite tracks. Also I seems like Diplo's stuff is becoming more and more "trap" like.

alot of this could also be classified as "bass" but sub genre have always been confusing to me.

Yea I know what you mean, it's really just bassy hip hop beats made dance able haha

Diplo's stuff is gettin more "trappy." I swear its gonna take the EDM world by storm pretty soon. This came out today ironically enough haha.

he's clearly better than all of us because of the music he listens to, but tomorrow I'll bump this thread with a few more tunes from my blogs trap tuesday post.

Just saw Rustie last Tuesday. Amazing.

New diplo remix of Sleigh Bells, balling out.

I'll be back later. This thread is going in a very good direction

ooof well i obviously didnt read your post to the bottom. Great choice, those mixes also have a couple songs i havent heard that are pretty dope

Is this a new trending music genre like dubstep? I'm not really a fan, but hey wasn't a fan of dubstep.

The only electronic i really listen to is Liquid DnB and future jungle.

It's crazy how fast electronic music is accelerating. I'm not a fan of it though. There surely are consequences to maintaining a short focus on a genre. It's too easy to do

just my thoughts on this new genre (it may be old and just becoming more popular, I am not educated on this trend)

It is indeed a new sub genre of EDM. Trap started as crack rock smoking music that sucked, kinda like this...

and then EDM producers decided to make it this... (I hate Avicii, it's just a good example of how EDM took 'trap')

Curious to hear peoples opinions on this now that, like I predicted, its gained extreme heights of popularity.

It's certainly not my favorite style of EDM, but I'm flexible about it. I listen to everything. I'm on a constant mission to figure out why certain things can be popular to one listener, while another passionately hates it, because well.. I get paid to. When people can so avidly hate on a genre of EDM (or any music really, because I give just about everything a shot) I can understand on a certain level.

I understand that 'Trap' is an intrusive and loudly obnoxious sub genre, as is "Brostep." You have to realize that whether or not you make like it, the general population finds it to be fairly good "party" music, simply for the fact that its easy to dance to. If that happens, the college scene takes it by storm, and once it's gained popularity amongst college students, it trickles down to HS and the rest is really history.

It's also a fairly simple style of music to produce So everyone and their grandmother is attempting there own "Trap" or "Trap remix."

Hate it or not, if you can't understand how it got popular you're blind to trends in music.

That's one of my biggest problems with it and the other bro genres, so many people make it and its so easy to that there isn't any soul to the music. Compare it to techno/house/trance and it feels like an unfinished sample. It doesn't take you on a musical journey in anyway, which is one of my favorite things about EDM.

Is it kind of fun to listen to when really fucked up and dancing with some girl? Yes, but that doesn't make it good music

I feel you on that, trust me. There are so many artists with talent in other genres that will never see the kind of succes that acts like Skrillex and Flosstradamus see, solely for the fact that they play to more of a niche group of listeners that're into the more technical side of EDM.

I'm only curious because I try to stay on top of peoples thoughts on topics like this, and I really do listen to some y'alls opinions and take them to heart.

Take Hxdb for instance (who I'm stuck on right now). His music is pleasing to just about everyone I've showed, but in a lot of peoples cases they'll never be exposed to it. People are often time too closed minded to try out a new genre of music (not saying this about y'all and "trap," just people in general). It makes me sad sometimes.

yeah that's actually pretty terrible. care for a quality sandstorm remix?

saw this live twice. once from datsik himself and 12th planet played it live aswell. if anyone can find a leak please let me know haha

Old thread so I probably won't get much but I'm looking for a song. I believe it to be of the "trap" style.

What you have to work with:

I know it was in either a Sean Jordan edit or segement. That's it, should be recent.
