I have an old Imac DV (400MHZ) with Final Cut Pro 3 installed on it. As you all know, FCP is a professional editing program that many movies (not just ski movies, but TV shows and holly wood movies) are edited with. The computer runs a bit slow, but it gets the job done every time.

$300, I live in MN, but will be in Vancouver this winter. FCP alone was $1000, and you couldnt buy just the FCP softwear for near this cheap.

PS-this computer also has microsoft word and runs OSX and OS9, also a great work computer.

I forgot, the hard drive in 15GB, and I up graded to RAM to 512 MB, plently for editing and then some. I had a portable hardrive that I connected to this computer and it worked perfectly.

512mb RAM is what most computers come with as a default. an editing comp has 1 gb and up of RAM, and at least 100 gb harddrive, even though you're supposed to have like a billion external ones.

You need more RAM if you computer is faster, for this computer there is enough ram for sure. I put together many a 30min movies on this computer. But the real steal is FCP, if you can imagine it, you can do in with this program.

 
You might be thinking of the upgrade from Final cut express, that is 700. Final cut pro itself is 1000 and final cut studio is 1300.

Final cut express is alot less powerfull than Final cut pro also, you cant make animations or things move around on final cut express

^Yeah. Or watch Cold Mountain or Fear Factor. They were done in FCP. A lot of ski movies are also edited in Final Cut. I'm almost positive that PBP uses FCP, though I'm not positive, and plenty of other companies do to.
