For my BC homies: Protect our Provincial Parks!

k, I know you are joking around, but it really would be great if you signed it, even if you feel detached from the issue.

Signed. Stuff like this is straight fucked.

parks are such an outdated concept anyways like fuck bc is not california just gotta be responsible with whatever you develop IDGAF what politically defined boundary you do it in. quit bitching about stuff like this and start using less oil you damn hypocrites.

wtf? kinda rude. why the FUCK does bc need parks? do you know how much unspoilt wilderness BC still has?

The bill does not permit drililng in parks. Here is the text of the bill, which you didn't provide because you haven't read it and don't care so much about the truth as feeling good about yourself by supporting a cause you don't understand via social media. Thankfully, this sort of activity has zero effect, and given the sort of people who participate in it this is a good thing.

The amendment allows a permit to be issued for the purposes of research, including research relating to pipelines. A permit can only be issued if it meets the following criteria:

(a) to do so is consistent with the purpose of the protected area,

(b) the research relates to the improvement of public health or safety,

(c) the research relates to an environmental assessment or a feasibility study, or

(d) the research will inform a decision of the Lieutenant Governor in Council or the Legislature in relation to the boundaries of the protected area.

Anyone who thinks a petition can stop anything oil companies want to do is naive. The pipeline WILL go to Kitimat, the TransCanada will go in, and oil companies will drill where ever the fuck they like.

This is also an extreme view and is also untrue. There are an absurd number of environmental requirements and regulations and approvals that are needed in order to try to obtain, refine, store, process or basically do anything with oil. There are many places that oil companies might like to explore but can't and won't, because the regulations simply make it uneconomic. That's how we balance competing interests like "having nice places to go ride mountain bikes" and "being able to pay for teachers and medical care".

against drilling in your own province, but also against high gas/energy prices I assume?

theres gotta be some compromise

Oil prices are set globally, whether or not a parks amendment bill that only relates tangentially to the O&G industry passes in BC has almost no effect on the price you pay to fill your tank.

Honestly I just saw the poll on Facebook that everyone else was posting and became another drone and shared it, yes I didn't research it because I am fool and figured what I saw, is what it is. So thanks for providing more education on this bill, I will now do as you have done and try and tell everyone I know the details that aren't shown in the poll.
