For all you Acutane takers

I took it like 5 years ago. Worked great. Don't think it was that long though, but it was worth it. btw some people can get depressed while on it apparently, so don't go on shooting spree

I know quite a few people who have had really good results from it. But I worked with a guy this summer that had serious problems after he took it....He wasn't even himself anymore, tried to commit suicide a number of times before his parents figured out it was from accutane.
Consult a doctor before you start on it and make sure you read all the side effects!

Go see ur doctor... cuz mine said my acne wasnt bad enough so he gave me another type of pill which i forget the name

I used to take it. It worked wonders; however, my lips were always chapped.

I took 3 pills per day for 6 months, and I then I didn't get any acne again until 6 months after I quit. I hear, though, that a good percentage of people never get acne again after taking it.

my friend has moderate acne and he took it for a while and it cleared up. his face got really dry though. like disgusting dry. especially while riding.his all came back so idk.good luck.

I took it a number of years back. It worked very well. However be careful as it is linked to depression in some cases and can also cause severe birth defects if you knock a chick up while on it.

It works really well for some people, and it goes disastrously for others. It really depends on cost versus benefits. If you have really bad (nodular) acne like I did, it could be worth it. If you only have mild acne (or are frequently depressed) it might not be worth it. Your dermatologist should be able to give you a big information packet on it, plus you should do some poking around online.

my buddy had serious acne and took this over the winter. he got minimal results from it and developed severe depression. i seriously thought depression was a joke until then. he wouldn't leave the house, called out of work for no reason, and just stopped functioning. once he figured out the medication, he dropped it and just decided to stick with his own skin. but ive had other friends who have taken it and been fine. thankfully, i was blessed with the skin on angels

lolerskates

not only linked to depression, but fucking MAD other problems. Yes whoever said Accutane has been on TV is totally correct. Accutane has given people crohns disease, among other diseases. Look it up

Ulcers, IBS, wow.

What would you like acne? Or the feeling of having to shit all the time with no acne?

has anyone here ever used retin a, minocycline or clindamycin?

my dermatologist recently prescribed me to these and so far it hasn't been effective

I'm on minocycline right now, and it doesn't do shit. Only people with mild acne respond to it. If it still isn't working after three months, go back to your dermatologist and ask about Accutane. Also, I find that Adapalene is pretty effective if you get 0.3% or greater.

one friend took it, and it fucked up his joints, so he couldn't run xc or skate,

another friend took it and had no problems (except really dry skin and lips)

and my sister said when some of her friends took it they got really depressed.

kinda like russian roulette it seems

it works i took it, it worked in like 3 months, there are some serious side effects as aforementioned but if you have tried everything and you still look like pizza it may be worth it

This happened to my friend too. Completely ruined her track season right when she needed to be impressing coaches for getting university scholarships.

I've been on it for 4 months now... So far its cleared up my back, forehead and hopefully my cheeks soon :)

I've just moisturized my face daily so i don't look like i'm shedding my skin, and copious amounts of Lip-chap do the trick just fine for your lips.

Hopefully by the end of this month i'll be mostly cleared up, but so far it hasn't been that bad at all, and the end result is definitely worth it.

I know this wasn't a serious question, but really, when your acne was as bad mine was, you'd do anything in the world to have it vanish. IE: Acutane.

i've been taking it for about 5-6 months now and am just about done, for me it's worked wonders, from where i was at the beginning it's like night and day, there is definitely dryness but i use Cetaphil just once after i get out of the shower which is a common pretty cheap moisturizer you can get at any grocery store and it works great for the whole day
i also have taken celexia for anxiety/depression for about 2 years and while i've been on acutane but there have been absolutely no psychological side effects whatsoever (thankfully), so it's sort of hit and miss but my experience has been nothing but positive

ha. pizza faces

I get like one pimple a month, give or take.

Just eat like a champ (fruits & veggies) and shower erry couple days

you're a dick. straight up.

i barely ever get acne, but i don't go rubbing it in to those who do.

OP, i would strongly recommend going to your doctor. I know people who have had amazing things happen, and others the complete opposite. Actually one kid had pretty bad acne, but accutane didn't do anything to help it. weird, huh?

so make sure you're the right fit for it. and it is true ^ that i've seen law offices advertising on tv about accutane.

3rd week of taking it, i have little acne. but i just want it gone permanently. and yeah fucking vaseline those lips up and lots of chapstick.

My older bro was on it. He had SEVERE acne, like real bad. it was scaring his face. they tried everything, and nothing worked...except for acutane. Worked wonders. Got rid of everything, has a super clear face now, and has kept it away. But be careful, shit is powerful and dries your skin out to the point of it pealing all over. Better buy a lot of lotion and chap stick to go along with it

i took it for quite a few months... can't remember how long. while i was taking it, it was working great for my skin because nothing ever worked on it before, NOTHING. my forehead, back, etc. were all prettymuch cleared up and i can not remember the last time my forhead felt so smooth...
downsides were having to get my blood tested and such. now that i hear it causes depression i think it might have had a slight effect on me in that way because i was feeling in a bit of a funk. skiing got boring for the last part of the season, so maybe thats what caused it.
a little while after stopping my skin was still alright but no its pretty much in the same as before. for some people it never comes back, some people have to go onto again for x months and then it never comes back. i would like to go back on it when i can again but now that i realized it got me in a bit of a funk then im not as willing? to take it anymore... also while taking it and still im using it is this cream called neo medrol, and it works like no other cream i have used. pretty much no other cream besides that and stuff with benzol preoxide in it works for me. acne sucks.

Please stop saying it is linked to depression. This is FALSE. Ask your doctor about it. There is NO scientific link they can find to tie it in with any kind of depression. Ask your doctor and he will tell you this, or just go do some research yourself.
The only reason people think this is because some Senator's kid committed suicide while on Accutane. He was pissed and made it his mission to take it out on Accutane. The truth is that his son had a long history of mental problems, and had tried to commit suicide twice before he took Accutane. The Accutane was not related to his death...period.
I loved Accutane. I took it a few years ago for just over 5 months. I had terrible acne and it was amazing. I still hardly ever get any pimples to this day. I had a lot of side effects while on it, but I would do it all over again in a heart beat. Acne sucks... I had dry skin, lips, rashes developed on my inner arms and the tops of my hands, my lower back, hips and knees would get sore easily, I got constipated, and maybe some more things I can't remember. With all that it was still 100% worth it. After my great results, 3 of my friends took it after me and all had slightly less side effects, with just as good of results.
There is apparently some link they have found that it can lead to Irritable Bowel Disease. I can't say anything on this because I have been lactose intolerant and had IBS before taking Accutane. For me, actually within the past few months it seems my lactose intolerance and IBSare subsiding. So, who knows. You may develop stomache problems, for me, it made them go away...?

Only the 10% benzoyl solution.
Otherwise it's a prescription, but it's very easy to get prescribed. Like, if you have acne, you will get it no problem. I don't have terrible acne (most of the time my face is clear), but I take it anyway so I have barely any acne.

are you kidding me? my dad who had brain cancer was prescribed acutane for chemotherapy. im not a doctor but that stuff is probably not good for your body. ance sucks balls i know i have it but that shit is intense. i would never take it just for mild acne.

not true at all... i dont get acne at all but youre a douche and completely wrong, plenty of people eat really well/take all the normal precautions you can and get bad acne. plenty of people eat like shit etc and dont get any at all

Hey bromammoth, why don't you break away from Madden '10 and icing the bros to check out my uber sick post before the last one. That's your pointer, if you're counter on your fingers. The first post.

Lol, what am saying? "IF"....
