For $1 million dollars

Would you stop skiing? If someone offered you $1 million dollars to give up skiing, would you take it? If you took the money and skied again you would be locked up in a room and forced to listen to Britney Spears over and over and over and over until you are no longer able to breath.

I would need far more to make that worthwhile IMO at least 50m so I can travel and golf around the world while its ski season. Buy a few houses in areas I want to live, with enough cash you could basically take up any other hobby.
 
If we're talking a cool milli that the feds won't get their hands on, absolutely. Pay off the mortgage, invest some, buy a couple toys and retire 20+ years early. I'd find something else to do for sure.

you need way more than 1m to retire now right now my man. Even with aggressive investments, you will be cash poor for years.

Nah not now. I'm frugal, have a pension, 401k, assets, no student loans, no car payments, etc in 10ish years it could be a real possibility to retire if I had the money today

Yeah we're agreeing (shocker I know) in my original post I said 'retire 20+ years early' i.e. in my 40's. Not quite there yet lol

If we can just ride on a snowboard then this is no question. Really not much difference from skiing. For a cool mil I could afford to pick up a hard boot board or a skwall and have money left over for a ton of corn dogs

Yeah probably...biking can scratch that itch enough, and $1mill is plenty to start collecting some of my dream airplanes
