Football hits vs rugby hits: you decide!

you can't even compare the football hits to the rugby ones. a couple football hits might be more impressive (a couple) but the fact they have pads blows whatever they had going.

at 2:34 on the football one made me laugh...the guy dropped like a log and nailed him

thats true, but think about it, in football, when you hit someone, your using your helmet and ur pads, so yeah the person ur hitting has pads on, but they are getting hit by someone with a helmet and shit on, in rugby, they arent wearing pads at all, and besides their body they have nothign to hurt someone else with unlike in football, so basically, it evens out

ditto. and also, how many times does one of these big hits happen a match. if you look closly at the rugby ones, or see one game, there are tons of huge hits in one game. football i see very little

in the pros at least. ive never seen rugby, but i know that there are a bunch of big hits in pro and college football.

now the next challenge, football vs soccer, neither sport is greater than the other

Those were all some nasty hits... they are definately both equally painful... even though you have pads on in football, it seems like there coming at each other at highger speeds, but rugby, no pads running full speed and tackling is rediculous... even if ur the one tackling.

Ture: If you played football with out pads on like it is played today someones season or life would end every game

True: Football hits happen away from the ball as well as at the ball. Crack blocks, pulling blocks, kick offs etc.

They are both hardcore in their own way, they are played completly differently.

In my opinion football has harder hits but I've only played rugby a couple of times and not competitively.

i think the best ones are when a reciever(football) is doing like a slant and the saftey sees it and lays off a bit and then runs and as soon as the guy catches the ball its like BAM and he dies

Ed Mccaffrey was the king of going over the middle and getting destroyed but he was a fucking champ.

lets see if I can find that vid of his leg exploding...

nope but I found a crappy highlight video. He is def one of my favorite players of all time.

no offense, but you have ABSOLUTELY no idea what your talking about. I play football at linebacker and QB (wierd combo i know) but i also play rugby at 7 (pretty much run as fast as you can and hit the ball carrier as hard as you can) football you hit so much harder, mainly because you have the comfort of pads. there are also WAY more injuries in football (last year had 6 kids get seriously injured while in rugby only 2) the reason is because in rugby you can ONLY hit the ball carrier, its a penatly to even block the other team. football has way harder hits period. every once in awhile you have hard hits in rugby but you cant hits with your full force or your head. so anyone who says that football players are gay because they wear pads should not be discussing this topic becuase they dunno what theyre talking about

your rugby team must suck / not play real rugby. i've seen tons and tons of kids/men get hurt playing rugby compared to football. way more injurys in rugby

do you play on a rugby team? becuase otherwise youve just probally seen them on the net and wouldnt that make us good if we didnt get hurt? becuase when people get hurt its becuase theyre not going 100% and there were many concussions but i dont count those

amen, i played reciever, every catch i had my arms would die from helmets going right into them with kids tryn to tackle me, sorry but in rugby you dont have people with a heavy helmet made of plastic and metal on their head being rammed right into your arms at full speed

you gotta have some respect for the kids on the line too they are basically fighting every single play. Well at least the ones that have to try.

i myself do not play. my bro played when we lived in australia. my bro also plays now and i have been to many of their games, as well as our HS football team. rugby is a lot worse. and i will be playing rugby next year

wow you play rugby in america?

lol i expected this thread to be a bunch of guys hating on rugby and declaring american football supremacy.

i play rugby alot and its full of hard hits and you can get hurt but ive always thought american football looks proper vicious what with tackling off the ball and all the protective gear

yeah australian rugby has different rules too but anyway you havent played football so you cant compare and contrast but youve been around the sport, you should know that the only big hits are the crackbacks which on the best of teams happen 4-5 times a game while in football even on the line kids get railed every play. the worst is when people say that rugby players are "more tough" than football players because they have no pads and shit. but i think im dropping rugby this year because its getting too complicated with football

american football tackles look spectacular but they dont happen very often, in rugby you are continually getting battered

so impact of football tacklres is harder but in my view rugby is more hardcore as you get a hell of alot of less powerful tackles during a match which together hurt you more

Rugby hits are by far worse in my opinion. I mean, look at some of those hits those guys were taking....that's without pads or a helmet too.

Rugby hands down.

the rugby hits were just brutal because a lot of them get it in the face/neck. i think the football hits were much worse. the speeds seen in football collisions just do not occur in rugby. i don't care if you have pads or not. the pads do more to protect the hitter so he can unload even more force on the opponent.

obviously football what are you guys talking about. full force with a hard helmet coming in with it. there is no argument.

the best AFL hit from about 2 years ago. good old aussie football. no padding, no helmets.

i retract any comment i said above, both sports are super sick. although, if i had to be a star athlete in either sport, i'd choose rugby, just because it seems more badass still.

haha, jason white was in there 3 times, scots hit hard. but a lot of those hits were really late.

its still got to be rugby for me, iv been playing rugby since i was 6 and in 10 years of playing iv broke 3 sets of ribs on other people a jaw bones and a collor bone all through tackles, iv only broken a wrist in a ruck and i was back playing in 3 weeks.

not really getting a shoulder elbow or knee to the dome is way worse than anything else, i've played rugby and hockey and i got fucked up way worse playing rugby than hockey, and you have to take in effect the speed factor hockey players move a lot faster than rugby players so there's a lot more force but the pads absorb most of it,

what most people here don't realize is that the tackling in football is only a fraction of the overall hitting on a play, in football almost every player on the team is hitting someone on every play, and when you block someone your hitting them just as hard as when you go to tackle someone

I'm going to have to go with football, even though there's equipemt I played travel ball for 5 years and city rugby for 2 and football deals wayy harder hits.

word. We use yo run veer where I would get a fake hand off every play and I would get fucked up. while the ball is out in the flat

linebacker, but it doesnt matter. he was not running full speed, but he wasnt too far off. crazy athletes like that guy have the acceleration to be nearly full speed at like 7-9 yards. plus he has amazing explosion. and i would say football, just because we can. we have pads on that keep us from being smooshed. rugby cats dont, so they dont hit as hard. it might hurt more when someone lays a really good hit, but they arent hitting as hard.

like the guy right below you said, watch closer. the thing that Joe Football Fan doesnt realize is that most of the game has nothing to do with the ball. Watch the line. watch how the 275 lb. d linemen explode into the 320 lb. o linemen. thats where there is a huge fucking hit every play. and thats why i love the line.

exactly bro

when you make it to a certain level, EVERY PLAYER ON THE FIELD (except for maybe the quarterback and pussy WRs and CBs) make hits every play that go unnoticed... but its these unnoticed hits that make the difference between a stop at the line of scrimmage or a 50 yard run/tackle in the backfield.

rugby is a sick sport too dont get me wrong

i'm glad this thread turned out well, only 1 hater so far

but really, rugby and football are both for pussies, we should all just become ufc fighters
